Randy Rogers band has been making great hits for a long time. Every band member he has is just right. This album I just bought is another great one on my collection list. The boys really get ur done. It's always great to have some feel goods at the bar while your listening to great country music like the randy rogers band.

So now, I'm reviewing this album, Nothing Shines Like Neon by Randy Rogers Band. I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, because I haven't really heard a Randy Rogers Band song before, so I had no expectations. Truthfully, I didn't think I'd like it as well, because I don't usually like the people's songs that aren't on the radio, that I haven't heard a single song from before. So how did it turn out? It turned out better than I thought, actually, it's pretty dang good. And usually I don't say this, but there isn't a bad song on this album. This album starts off with a song, that isn't the fastest, a song with a lot of guitar picking, but does have other instruments. Mid-tempo song, and anyway, it has a good melody. Usually, I don't hear that. The lyrics are good, also. 'Rain and the Radio' has more electric piano also, which I do like, usually I don't like it. Another song with good and catchy melody. It sounds like they're good at mixing the songs, and they choose the right instruments to fufill the sound that they want. The sound of these songs on this album is amazing, so let's talk about the lyrics. By far, the lyrics are also good. 'Neon Blues' is talking about a girl that got her heart broken, and now she's drinking at a bar. She's not looking for anything, not in the mood for anything. They discribe it that she has the 'neon blues', which I like a lot. I like the song a lot. It is also catchy, like the other songs on this album, that are before this song. 'Old Moon New' is a slower song, still good though. They know how to keep their songs catchy, and good, no matter what. I really like it. I like the guitar picking on the verse, to strumming on the chorus. 'Things I Need to Quit' is a song with guitar, fiddle, and a good beat. The bass line is sweet also. Catchy also. This song is about things that he needs to quit, and he says that this girl is at the top of the list. 'Tequila Eyes' is slow, but really good chord progression, good sound on fiddle, right tone for guitars, and it's catchy. This song might as well be one of my favorites of the album. I like it a lot. 'Look out Yonder' is another song, with the brush thing, as well as 'San Antone', the first track. This song has good guitar picking, and everything. This song isn't the best on the album, but still pretty dang good. Then there's 'Takin' It as It Comes', which has the guitars that sound rockish in the verses, but in the chorus, he does the twelve bar blues thing, with the honky tonk piano doing it's thing. Then the fiddles come in on their fiddle. And then guitar solo. This song isn't bad either. This song is probably my least favorite, but still pretty good. 'Meet Me Tonight' is a song that is like 'Tequila Eyes', and I love this song, also. It sounds like he adds organs and steel guitars to this song, which makes it better. This song is talkin' about this girl, that used to love him, but doesn't love him anymore. He wants to be with her again, and he wants her to meet him tonight. 'Actin' Crazy' has the steel guitars, the acoustic guitars, and no electric guitars. It would sound old country otherwise, but he adds enoguh reverb and also adds an organ to the song, to keep it from that, thank goodness. I really like the song. 'Pour One for the Poor One' is a song that has the fiddles again, and the acoustic guitars, then you go to the verse and there is the beat that you usually have in this type of song, with that type of chorus also. It isn't a bad song, but not one of the best either. Man, I wasn't expecting this coming. I didn't think this would be good, but it turns out, it is awesome.

Love double R B and there are some great songs on this record. Taquila Eyes, Rain and The Radio, Neon Blues as well as a couple others. But for the first time I turned off a RRB song because it was horrible (Takin' It As It Comes). Old Moon New is about as boring as it gets. There are also just okay songs that sould have been amazing. You have one of the best voices ever in Alison Krauss and all she does is sing back-up during the refrain... Such a waste should have done a duet. I understand that this album was supposed to be even more country than the others but it need a couple more upbeat songs like an Again or You Could Have Left Me. It is nice to have some new Randy Rogers but honestly this album was mediocre which is not what they are about.

The bass is too loud and it booms. Other than that this is a very good record. Much better than any country on the radio. Glad there are still a few real country bands out there.
