  • Lost session with a few pearls

4 stars instead of 5 because this session is not among the very best for Bill Evans, but still has some great tracks. The mix leaves the percussion a little lost to the left of the soundstage, and Jack DeJohnette seems to be tentative at times. The title track “Some Other Time” is poignant, but not quite at the level of the Village Vanguard recording. Other highlights are the duo version of "Baubles, Bangles, & Beads" and "Turn Out The Stars”. On some of the tracks, Evans seems to occasionally lose focus, but overall this lost session is a great addition to the Bill Evans discography.

Fabulous! Incredible clarity in mix. Even Eddie Gomez’ great bass lines and timbre are clear and you know, you got to hear Eddie!

Releasing “lost” material by Bill Evans is like discovering gold in "them there hills.” He is a keyboard master and a go-to guy for great jazz. Nothing more need be said, Bill said it all.

Listening to this music and it’s execution is such a delight, like fresh clear and clean water in a mountain stream, flowing over rocks and sand without the slightest encumbrance. Drink deep!!!

Great find. These tapes were in hiding almost 50 years and it sounds amazing. The playing is brilliant of course.
