That's about all that needs to be said. Airplay is about the only way to make money these days so good for them.
  • I mean it's production is amazing.

And that seems to be just about it for my personal tastes. THATH absolutely mezmorized me with their first two albums. This one doesn’t move my heartstrings in any which way. All musicians have the right to change their music and I can't and won't make them wrong for it- if they are stoked that's great for them. I just wish I had another self titled. If the band reads this- look at your first album reviews. Over 1k+, and people went out of their way to express exactly how they were struck by it. Generational, timeless, masterpiece, unheard of in today’s music scene, ...these are the sorts of things you’ll see written. Please, do NOT LISTEN to your ‘producer’. Go do what bands like Periphery do: go record an album by yourself on your own label. If it was YOUR choice to try to sound like a mix of Coldplay, U2, M83 (Love m83), it was a bad one. What happened to the lyrics like “Someday you said, someday you will miss my head, lying next to yours, in our marriage bed” “I was burned out and lost, a dusty bulb an abandoned lot. And the nighttime was the worst, shows you all the things you’ve lost” Mix those with incredible acoustic and heartfelt musicianship, a chorus of emotion, lead vocal sharing, and just really really strong Americana. What you’ve got was the brilliant first and second albums by this PNW trio. I saw them live in Minnesota in the fall of 2014 supporting Trampled By Turtles. They had just released their second album and I was love struck. It would behoove them to stay with that original style. The sounds on this album DILUTE and dirty you’re incredibly original sound. You LOST your HEART. Stop listening to your head and listen to YOUR HEART.

*Sigh.* If only they would have stayed on Sub Pop. I mean, it's not terrible. Just lacking use of the head or the heart.
  • It's just different is all.

I like this alright. The tracks are fun, and I think it's okay that it's different, but I do like it a little less. They can still make pop sound good at least.
  • Wonderful Album Start to Finish

The most driveable album on my playlist! Seldom are there recordings like this, masterpieces from start to finish. You actually SHOULD buy the CD so you can just press play and drive. If the band is reading this, there would be some phenomenal layering going on if you combined Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee" with "Rhythm and Blues." That would be so fun to see live. I can't believe people would rip on this album just because they've been fans for a long time and have something to prove. This is bliss to the ears. I can't believe Head and the Heart records get better and better.

Heard this band live performing All We Ever Knew before they ever recorded it during a filming day of the tv show called Roadies. It was so simple and I felt moved by it. I loved it so much that told them so and just hoped deep down that they would feel th same way. This song no longer sounds the same but I recognize the lyrics. It sounds nothing like what I heard and I hope that one day they record a live acoustic version of it. I do love their music and I'm not this type of music lover. I mostly love 90s hip hop. To me they've got agreat sound.

Your first album is my favorite album. From start to finish it's unique with instrumentals and vocals so raw that just blend beautifully from one song to the next while still managing to stand out as seperate pieces. That being said I super disapointed with this album. After listening to each song they all sound exactly the same, with fast tempo and instumentals that jsut bleed together with lyrics i can't even understand. You got the formula so perfect the first time around it's shocking how far this one falls short. i love this band but would love to hear the sound i fell in love with. the first time I heard one of your new songs I didn't reconize you.
  • Still Great music

I find it funny the 1 star ratings from fans that liked their earlier stuff better. Yes, it's more polished. Yes, they'll probably be doing this from now on. Reminds me of the Dylan fans who protested his going electric and then realized after awhile that he was still writing great music anyway. While I don't love the entire Signs Of Light album, I do like about half of it. If you want every song on every album to be the greatest you're going to be disappointed in life.
