This is one of my personal favorite John Mayer albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. This album also has great vocals, great drum solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next limited play album, and extended play album from John Mayer.
  • Where’s the passion?

As an avid Mayer fan I had to purchase this. Played the album over and over for weeks to really try to get into it. But just not hearing the passion in his voice that he has had in most older albums or songs like “Gravity”. Sounds like he just sang a bunch of songs to quick get an album out but doesn’t truly enjoy it this time around. Disappointed I can’t hear the passion, so I do not love this album.

In my opinion, this album is amazing from start to finish. I’ve been a fan since since “No Such Thing” hit radio air waves and I have to say, John has outdone himself this time. Helpless and In the Blood both speak to me deep down in my soul. Well, if I’m being honest, all of his songs do. From his killer guitar chops to his beautiful lyrics, this album is just what I needed. His beautiful music has helped me get through some of my darkest days and this album is no different. I’m already looking forward your next release!!!

What I like about Mayer is he uses drums, guitar and bass to create a new vibe to classic music. Great job as usual. John is underrated as a song writer and musician in this era. But he has put out great stuff for a LONG time now. Love the Marvin Gaye sound mixed with Fleetwood Mac (Love On The Weekend) and The Rolling Stones guitar riff on Helpless. Then you have acoustic like Dylan "In The Blood"...Some great guitar licks too. Looking forward to a live album of last tour.
  • Clean & Colorful, Yet Self-Absorbed

I have only ever been a half-hearted John Mayer fan, but at least he used to wow with some nice guitar licks. I cannot disagree more with those who are saying he is “mature.” I mean, how old is this guy, and he is still blaming his parents for his failures (e.g., In the Blood). And if I was a woman I’d be more than a little fed up with this self-absorbed womanizer (e.g., the lyric, “oh honey, I’ve been talking to myself, just to hear you...”). This guy needs to man up, stop blaming his parents, stop using women, and make some decent music.
