I have always been an Eagles fan for many years. This album does differ from the old stuff but I enjoy the music greatly. It does have a bit stronger country feel than the original country rock they did in their earlier years of the 70’s. The album is recorded with great sound quality. The harmonies sound awesome and every member of the band holds their voice so well. It also shows that Don Henley and Glenn Frey were still a great songwriting duo, and that Henley is still a brilliant lyricist. Also, Steuart Smith is a great replacement for Felder and still makes a great contribution to the band and album. However, I don’t think this album needed to be a two disc set but it was great that they wanted to throw in as much material as they can. I loved a great number of the songs but I also disliked a number of songs. The songs I really liked were “No More Walks In The Wood” (nice a-capella, very “Seven Bridges Road” style), “How Long”, “Busy Being Fabulous”, “I Don’t Want To Hear Anymore”, “Waiting In The Weeds”, “No More Cloudy Days”, “Do Something”, “Long Road Out of Eden” (great song, and my favorite song of all on the album), and “Last Good Time In Town” (loved the guitar work). As for the songs not mentioned, toss ‘em - which was the only reason why I give it four out of five stars.
  • May have done better as a single album...

First off, I like this album. It was refreshing to hear a full-on Eagles reunion album... a double album in fact! However, for me, there are some weaker songs on the album, which keep some people from really enjoying it. I think the album might have done better if the best songs made up a single album, and the other songs were on a bonus disc in a deluxe version. Here's my playlist: ALBUM - [1] No More Walks in the Woods; [2] Guilty of the Crime; [3] How Long; [4] Fast Company; [5] Busy Being Fabulous; [6] I Don't Want to Hear Anymore; [7] Waiting in the Weeds; [8] Last Good Time in Town; [9] What Do I Do With My Heart; [10] Somebody; [11] Center of the Universe; [12] It's Your World Now; [13] Long Road Out of Eden; BONUS DISC - [1] Hole in the World (2003); [2] One Day at a Time (live, 2005); [3] No More Cloudy Days; [4] Frail Grasp on the Big Picture; [5] I Love to Watch a Woman Dance; [6] Business as Usual; [7] Do Something; [8] You Are Not Alone; [9] I Dreamed There Was No War.

This album has some of their best song writing! It is really too bad it did not get recognized as a great album! This is another great Eagles album i doubt you will regret buying it. Lots of great songs.

A young Bob Dylan once said that he liked Woody Guthrie because among other things, a person could actually learn how to think and how to live from listening to Woody Guthrie. When I heard the song Long Road Out of Eden, that quote came to my mind. Also from this collection I liked No More Walks in the Wood, I Dreamed There Was No War (add that one to your "Instrumentals Playlist"), Frail Grasp on the Big Picture, I Love to Watch a Woman Dance, Center of the Universe, and It's Your World Now. Seven great songs on first listen.

Grew up on AM/FM radio as a kid in California in 70’s and 80’s. This music is like sight and sound and visceral feelings, gives me the Proverbial goose bumps when i hear their music. Oh what a time to be young in the glory days of California with all this amazing music. Thank you for the music
  • Still great

This is probably the final Eagles album, now that Glenn Frey has left us. Their first full album since The Long Run in 1979 is full of the same types of songs. Henley, Frey, Schmidt and Walsh all sing several memorable tunes each, and of the 20 songs here, over half are instant classics. Even the weaker songs are better than “filler,” and this album holds up to repeated listening. Just don’t compare it with Eagles Greatest Hits since you know all those songs for 40 years. Keep an open mind and this album is flat-out great.
