Elegant compositions, and supremely talented musicians, take a back seat to massive sound effects, computer generated notes and mixing plus weird editing at times . You are listening to some of the greatest jazz musicians of a generation made less effectual due to machines. It would be interesting, if not an impossible task , to see this album purely done with instruments and singers/ rappers alone. Good to hear Glasper’s genius on the jazz piano again it has been missed with all the R&B projects. Don’t mind R&B Hip hop or the two mixed with jazz. But these compositions were so good the little bit of jazz in the songs left me wanting to hear more of that, than the effects.

Robert Glasper is pure genius. A real true master of the art of jazz. Since the beginning of The Experiment on his “Double Booked” release, he developed a distinctive sound that would carry him to create other brilliant projects. This album is a heavy rotation in my ears and will be for years to come. This album will make you appreciate real good music and especially if you’re a fan of jazz.

Loving this new breed of super-collaborations. Robert Glasper heads up a troupè of bright young jazz musicians. This is the summertime listening you've been looking for.
