There aren't a lot of albums that I purchase anymore, and even fewer that I actually listen to all the way through. I first heard "Live By The Day" on Margaritaville Sirius radio, and I immediately loved it; I finally got around to buying the album. These guys have a spectacular sound, and they really remind me of the Ska movement from the 90's, only they are much more AOR oriented. I really can't find a bad song; best rhythm section in modern music!

Defy Gravity, the Sophomore Album by the Elovators is one of the best Album releases yet this year. As the album starts, you’re greeted by one of the best rhythm sections coming out of Massachusetts laced over by the soulful voice of Jackson Wetherbee. Live by the day is a true testament of the love of the craft of creating music and the way it makes an artist and fan alike become entranced when they hear, no, FEEL the vibes of The Elovators. As the album unravels, you’re taken on a journey riddled with heavy percussion, bubble, skanks and chucks that are always tied together by melodic bridges leading to powerful vocals that really just take you along for the ride. Nick Asta, Matty Link, Derrick Cabral and Greg Nectow’s musical connections are so tight, that they keep you grooving and dancing on every track. Their song Boston, pays homage to their home City. After an extensive tour this past year it’s only normal to miss your Hometown, City and the local fans, The Street Sharks. You really feel the hometown connection The Elovators have with their fans when you catch them at a local show. My favorite track, So Many Reasons hits and gives you the “feels” in so many ways it’s not even funny. John Alves and Wetherbee’s guitar leads On this track coupled with the rhythm section of the fellas radiate a level of musical mastery that give a great underlying flow for those lofty vocals from Wetherbee. You leave the album with a track called Shaking off the Wolves. One that really hits the heart strings with the lyrics, “A foundation made on love is a home built to last.” You can say what you will but to me this song pays tribute to the fans, who support, open their homes, continue to nurture this incredible band from Massachusetts. This albums title is exactly what happens when you give it a listen. You defy gravity and transcend into the irie state of mind. MH

One of the best live acts in the reggae scene just dropped an album that stays true to the heart and soul of this group. Vocally and lyrically strong, great melodies that play in your head all day. Loved the first album, but this one really shows how they have grown as a band. Buy this album, you won’t be disappointed.
