Why 2 takes of If You See Her, Say Hello? And the omission of 2 original album songs on this sampler? (Meet Me In the Morning and Buckets of Rain)
  • The Sampler vs Single-disc

Apple released a version of ten songs from this boxed set that I thought was the Single-disc edition. I've listened to the Sampler a number of times now, and THAT compilation is a better companion to the original album. After Dylan's dry spell from 1970-73, where he released scattered versionos of his former writting ability, he broke back onto the charts with Blood on the Tracks. The Boxed set features 3 songs not on the final product-kind of. One is Call Letter Blues, later named Meet Me In The Morning, Up To Me-a solid gem! and a version of Spanish is the Loving tongue. The Sampler includes different verses than the final product on particular songs, ala G. Harrison's While My Guitar...So, if you're a casual Dylan fan, this will do you, but if you're more fan-atic, pick and choose various versions of the songs and create your own alternate version of the album!

Blood on the Tracks is a great record. It is still one of his best records and a close second to Highway 61 Revisited in my opinion. I still listen to both records on a regular basis as well as the pre Highway 61 Dylan records. . I listened to More Blood, More Tracks on NPR last night and I have to say I like the More Blood, More Tracks version just a little bit more than I do Blood on the Tracks. I would give both records 5 stars. This is an excellent collection of Bob Dylan songs no matter which version you listen to.
  • Dylan’s apex

It seems the predominant view among Dylan snobs (u know some)that these New York versions of his greatest work are superior to the Minnesota “enhancements” that he and his brother reworked for Blood ‘s original release. I’ve never been of that school. Nevertheless I’ll get in line to hear ANY version of these timeless bits of genius
