  • Great, but could have had a few more songs...

U2 is AWESOME and this is a pretty good compilation of their '80s hits. A little more could have been done to push it to 5 stars though. First, the album is only 64 minutes long, so putting the short versions of "New Year's Day" and "Streets" on it was a mistake. The full versions would have only made the album 2.5 minutes longer, and the full versions are SO MUCH better than the short versions. Second, the Japanese album included "One Tree Hill", which would bring the album to 72 minutes. A CD holds just under 80 minutes (this came out in 1998 when CDs were still the most common format of music), so this awesome song would have been great to have on all versions of the album. Third, there's still 8 minutes left on the CD, and the album is lacking in music from U2's first 2 albums, so fill those minutes up with some early U2! Sure, they didn't have any hits from their first 2 albums, but "Out of Control" and "Gloria" would have been good additions. Yeah, that brings it up to about 30 seconds longer than a CD will fit, so just shave a couple seconds off from some of the songs' fade-outs and then it all fits! And finally, fourth, the bonus disc of rare songs is only about an hour long, so fill that last 20 minutes up with more rare songs. There's so many to choose from! Aside from that, it's a good album overall. 4 stars!

U2 had so many great songs in the 80’s! I was born in 2001, yet this is my favorite compilation album of all time!

This is one of my personal favorite U2 albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. Also, this album has great vocals, great drum solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next limited play album, and extended play album from U2.
