  • It’s perfect early 90s

I can’t relate to anyone not understanding this album. Losing My Religion is a nearly perfect song. Shiny Happy People—what’s not to love? It sounds to me like they were really feeling good and very much in the flow with this album. It’s been almost 30 years and my ‘classic rock’ soul can really groove to this—even being a Zeppelin fanatic. If you don’t know REM, this might be the place to start. Then work your way back to Murmur and learn this gorgeous band. They are absolutely worth the time to get to know them.
  • This is where they lost me.

I'm not sure what was going on with them at this stage, but I suspect the pressure of success affected them in an unfortunate way. I had been a HUGE fan since Murmur, but this record is where REM lost me.
