Being raised in south and listening to this album over the year has always reminded me to stay grounded.tom wrote some of the beautiful lyrics in the history of music and one song in particular “southern Accents” brings back memories of my mother who passed away.

Tom Petty takes a look back at growing up in the South and how it shaped him. Right out of the box “Rebels” is a hard rocker that has become one of my all time favorites. “I was born a Rebel, one foot in the grave and one foot on the pedal, I was born a Rebel”, he sings. Yes he was, and it has touched all he has done. “With a Southern Accent, where I come from...”. “Tom Petty writes some of his best songs ever on this album, “Don’t Come Round Here No More” was a huge hit for the Heartbreakers “Spike” is an interesting song that reminds me of “Self Made Man” of “Let Me Up” album. This album is great for hardcore Petty fans and also anyone wanting to listen to one of the finest songwriters of his generation.

I love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. But let's call this what it is...a weak album. That happens. Sometimes artists experiment and the experiment isn't a success. That's ok. But these songs just aren't great, and this album is just not very appealing to me. Maybe someone else loves it. But no one has said so as I'm writing this review. Other than the "hit" Don't Come Around Here No More, I only mildly liked 2 other songs.
