So uh, musically its great, but vocally, they are recorded to low and at times I cant hear what the heck David is saying. Not sure if this is to hide the fact that David is old and cant hit the notes, or a mistake. No previous album is like this. the music is great though and when you can hear David singing, he sounds alright, the power is no longer there, but still sounds good.
  • Favorite guitar rock record this year!

It’s like Winger meets Whitesnake meets Skit Row meets Kane Roberts with Alice meets Night Ranger.
  • Please. Put this band Out of it's misery.

I was a massive Whitesnake fan in the late 70's and early 80's. Even the "Whitesnake/1987" was okay given the over produced bastardization of a great band. But from Slip Of The Tongue onwards Coverdale has just kept dragging Whitesnake to the pit of mediocrity and this record is no exception. The one bright spot in an awful line embarrssing rockers and cliched "love" songs is the sublime "Can't Do Right For Doing Wrong" which could easily slide it's way into the 1987 album or even (with a stripped down sound) "Come And Get It It' and is the only reason for a second star here. Forget the rest though. Whitesnake 2019 are a sad, soulless project, totally devoid of the blues...
  • Still write good tunes

Overall I like this disc. The songs are solid, especially those written by Reb, and very Whitesnakeish. But man it was obvious that Coverdale's voice is losing it's power by how much they pulled it back in the mix. Seems like he struggles with anything in the mid to upper range. He seems to handle the slower songs better tho. Funny how the musicians can cover up when they aren't as proficient (or they bring someone in to record certain tracks), but very VERY hard to hide the singer.
  • Oh yeah they’re back

Reminds me so much of their old music but also with a blend of power metal. Love it!

A great singer that needs to team back up with Steve Vai.

Whatever the "technical difficulties" were they seem to have been removed. The first "New" Snake in 8 years is definitely worth the wait. It seems almost all eras of Whitesnake are represented by at least one song. Great vocals, great musicianship. A must buy for any Whitesnake fan who has been along for the ride for the past 41 years. One constant with Whitesnake has been change. And each album has encapsulated that moment in time. I can pick at least one song, who am I kidding 4-5, per album and tell you where I was when I first heard it. And, tell you how they have affected my life. If Doug Aldrich brought back some of the Sykes' era flavor, Hoekstra and Reb bring back some of the Vai era wizardry. Well done, lads. UPDATE 5-12-19 OK after having lived with the Deluxe Edition a couple days, I can report that I am very pleased with the album. I think it kind of sounds like a cross between Slip of the Tongue and Restless Heart, if your're familiar The first three singles, Shut Up and Kiss Me, Trouble is Your Middle Name, and Hey You! You Make Me Rock, are all solid, which we knew before the album came out. Without going into detail on all the songs, and there are a lot, suffice it to say, if you like Whitesnake, for whatever reason, Blues, Heavy Hetal, sweet harmonies, or blister inducing guitar solo's, you can find a tune here that you love. Tommy's drums are still thunderous. And, the reason we are all here, Coverdale's voice, is still impeccable. 5-19-19 This album grows on me more and more everytime I listen to it. If it came out in the late 80's Hysteria and Slippery When Wet would be afterthoughts. So many great songs, so many great hooks, so many blistering guitar solos. Put it on shuffle, and enjoy! Worth the wait, worth the money.
