I ad ne’er heard of him before this cd. I’m not a fan of country music at all. But this is not country! This really rocks! Love it!

Holy cow!! I can’t get enough of this album. I have to admit I was originally disappointed because I just discovered Sturgill during this past year and REALLY liked his first 3 albums, and this... well this is not those. I guess it was on the third listen through when I read the lyrics with the music that it hooked me, and oh man did it ever hook me! I believe this will go down as one of the great albums of the decade. Maybe the most appropriately titled album I can think of. Although, a better title might have been Here’s My Middle Finger... to all the money grabbing big wigs, to all the cookie cutter producers, to all his conveniently new friends, and to all his fans that think he should be in a box (like some of the reviewers I’ve seen on here). I was one of these fans 2 listens in. Now I say, “Make Art, my man! Make Art!”
  • BOOM!

I'd let country music go a while back. Disappointed with the factory approach, pop lyric direction its' gone over the last 8 years or so. Then I ran across this guy's anime for Sound & Fury on Netflix ...HOLY SHT! Finally something new! Gritty, belt it out outlaw-country soul, with deep throbbing bass, and electro-funk hooks. My only complaint? IT'S TOO SHORT! MAKE MORE! In the meantime I'm getting a couple more of his albums and going on an outlaw-country binge... but Sound & Fury is my new go-to album.
  • New school twist on an old school rock sound

I, personally, have never heard of Sturgill Simpson until recently when a friend was talking about a movie on Netflix. I gave it a watch and found it to be amazing. Kinda of Heavy Metal movie with a Japan vibe but the music was what I found the most interesting. I found it to be a new school flip on some classic rock sound, like listening to 70’s Rock all over again. I dig it, man.

This is THE sound I've been looking for. Probably going to destroy my speakers with Fastest Horse in Town on full blast.
