I had respected the output of this brand for many contemporary hits in what I imagined would be a relatively pure form. Almost on par with Rhino.
In this case I was dead wrong.
Most of these tracks are time stretched and you can hear garbling in the singing, weakened percussion. By no fault of the original recordings, but by the processing done when they made this compilation!
On top of that, there was no forewarning that there were segues between these tracks. You do NOT get the full beginning-to end versions of these tracks and they do Not sound pure. Just a heads up.
I figured this was a nice collection for the dj mixing I enjoy doing. But these tracks are all already tarnished.
The only value they serve me now is just for education of composition and instrumentation, and learning about these influential hits. But unsatisfactory otherwise.
