Adam Lambert’s CD VELVET 5/5/20 By V Grove Everyone who has followed Adam Lambert is aware of his powerful impressive voice and his electric stage presence. With VELVET, we see another talent - his thoughtful, authentic song-writing ability. Adam Lambert’s newest CD VELVET has caught my interest like no other in decades. As I have become more familiar with the songs on the album, I have learned more about the depth and breadth of Adam Lambert’s musical sensibilities. VELVET was created from a lifetime of Adam’s personal musical experience, drawing from the spirit of the late 1960’s, 1970’s and early 1980’s - a very fertile and creative period for music of all flavors. From these influences, Adam has pulled from the best and has created his own masterpiece. Each song on VELVET projects a familiar vibe or touches a favorite memory - but in a fresh and exciting way. Anyone who loves the music from those decades, but has not yet experienced this CD, should immediately do so. Be prepared to experience this artist in transition, sharing his experiences, dreams and hopes. Among others, Adam worked with the artistic Nile Rodgers (whose work with Bowie & Madonna is well known), so you can expect to hear some familiar punches & funky new grooves (“Coming In Hot”, “New Eyes”, “Ready To Run”). Rich tender expressions from Lambert’s already well-known powerful voice have already won hearts in ballads: “Feel Something” & “Closer To You”. “Superpower” will have you moving, smiling, feeling optimistic and empowered. Watch for the catchy “Love Don’t” - once heard, you will be repeating the beat, which punctuates the message. One of my favorite tracks on the CD is “On the Moon”, an ethereal escape that feels as wonderful as it sounds. Adam has stated that he took his time creating this CD, wanting to be true to himself and to those whose influences helped define the direction he took for this impressive project. VELVET offers music that will take your spirit on an amazing adventure and will stay with you like a great meal! Adam Lambert has emerged as our most effective and thoughtful singer-songwriter today; his influence and leadership have been felt around the globe for many years, both through his tours with Queen as lead singer, as well as his own albums, performances and tours. IT IS LONG PAST TIME for the music industry to take serious notice of Adam Lambert, the artist. He is so much more than the electric entertainer we all know and love, with an astonishing voice and seemingly impossible vocal range! VELVET is his best, most inspired work to date. I look forward to his new work, knowing how passionate he is about his material. MY INITIAL REVIEW (3/20) I wanted to take time to share my impression of Adam Lambert’s new CD VELVET. It has been a long time since I have been so inspired by a musical artist. Over the last several years it seems like too many artists are created by marketers and seem to have lost something important in that process. This is not the case with Adam Lambert’s VELVET! This CD feels and sounds like a labor of love. Clearly driven by thoughtful lyrics, this CD takes me back to a time when the artist was in the driver’s seat. With songs like “Superpower” I felt like dancing...was able to suspend my worries as I got lost in the joy inspired by the music. “Superpower” is very upbeat and fun, while being inclusive, offering images of all ages, and reflecting images of kindness, relating to one another...a very lighthearted but catchy song! There is a throwback feel in the CD, particularly in the lead song “Velvet”, not only in its funky beat and dance grooves, but in the lyrics also. It is hard to resist - I challenge you to try not to dance while listening! - it is very reminiscent of early Prince. Some of my favorite songs on this CD are ballads. “Feel Something” and “Closer To You” are both passionate expressions about relationships. These songs allow the listener to relate to their own experiences while becoming impressed with the raw, lush and powerful messages that only Adam Lambert can fully express through his impressive vocal prowess. I can’t remember the last time I was so excited by a CD, but I can assure you that VELVET is a winner! I believe it will join other classics which inspire and cheer us, remind us of the potential in great music, and inspire many new fans for Adam Lambert. You may know Adam as the current lead singer of Queen. He has been touring with Queen for nearly a decade. Adam is also a powerful entertainer and singer-songwriter. If you haven’t yet heard his performance of “Believe” performed to honor Cher at The Kennedy Center Honors - which brought Cher to tears - I highly recommend it. As a singer-songwriter, Adam Lambert is unsurpassed!

Seems like Adam Lambert has been listening to his mentors in Queen, and has embraced his funkier rock tendencies. I purchased the Velvet EP, and was very excited to get this as well...and have not been disappointed. His voice is just amazing, and I for one love hearing this side of him. Modern, but very heavily influenced by Glam Rock (as if that’s a surprise). Thanks for sharing your talents for writing and singing.

When an artist is as phenomenal as Adam is, it's hard to pick favorites. But I have to say this album is my favorite of all 4! His best! Love that he is not afraid to try something new, as so many artists seem to be. Somehow he has combioned Retro with Currrent, as no one else could! Highly recommend this album. My Fav songs are Overglow, Stranger You Are, Roses, Loverboy, Love Dont. But they are ALL great! No skips here!

Lambert's vocal power, control, and emotional depth are amazing. The most exceptional pop/rock singer of this generation.
  • Like what I’ve heard so far, but...

Nearly half of this album was already purchased with The velvet ep. a song I purchased earlier counts toward the album but the ep doesn’t? That hardly seems fair. I really want to get this album but I just can’t bring myself to buy songs I already have from a different purchase.
