I absolutely love Seth’s voice. It’s Majestic yet authentic and smooth and silky. I can listen to him all day long! I would love to see him record songs from other historical stage performances, like, Phantom of the Opera, Passion, ‘Mariah’ from Paint Your Wagon and ‘Johanna’ from Sweeney Todd. A collaboration of those songs and others would be heaven to listen to!

Years ago Bob Woodward wrote a book called Wired. It was about the death of John Belushi. The complaints that came out about it didn’t necessarily have an issue with the facts, rather that Woodward had managed to transcribe the events accurately but still not capture the heart of the man at the center of the biography, the nuance and emotion of the events as retold and the essence of why Belushi and his passing were so compelling. This album is that book put to easy listening music. MacFarlane hits the notes with skill but without heart. He as always manages to not be memorable beyond a histrionic way of performing a tune and sounding vaguely like Kermit the Frog. His fans will eat it up so it deserves five stars if you already enjoy his “style”, but to anyone familiar with this collection of covers there’s little reason to not just listen to the previous artists that have done wonderful renditions so that he doesn’t have to.
