First off, I love this album. MO did a remarkable job. It’s a joy listening throughout the years and listening to the maturity of their music grow along with me. It’s been a ride. Kind of off topic, but religion is merely secularized metaphysics. I wish I could have a conversation about this with Andy. He’s touching upon the understanding of the Neoplatonists in the Hellenistic period such as Ammonius and his student Plotinus. As Plotinus said “it’s a fools errand to go searching for the soul.” I think Andy has touched upon this understanding in this album and the fact that God is an interwoven entity, which those philosophers referred to as “The One.” ie, without The One we do not exist. We are consubstantial to The One. Much like the mind is consubstantial to the body and The Logos, or how red light is consubstantial to the red filter and white light. The red light is merely the psychophysical, but you’re truly the white light. That’s who you really are. The red filter is merely the identifying as the psychophysical, the body. Who were you ten years ago? Who are you going to be ten years from now? Odds are, you probably described the psychophysical and what it might prescribe to in the material, but this isn’t who you truly are. I am not my body. When God spoke to Moses, he didn’t give him a name, he said “I am that I am.” And with this said, you are the very same. What’s good and harmonious with the body is typically a good sign of who you truly are. Health of the mind derives from truth, logic, and wisdom. It’s not about what you do, but about what you know. The most virtue derives from focusing on yourself instead of controlling those around you. Be the example. Be who you truly are. Then, and only then, will the rest of the world follow suit.

Manchester has switched gears into mellow music for the most part, and that’s ok, just know you’re not getting that old Manchester sound with this one. They’ve pretty much been mellow since Cope, and looks like that’s what they are now.

I’ve always that they were a good band, but this album is amazing it gets better and better the more I listen to it. So far my favorites are The internet, Bed head, and Angel of death.

Since he stopped the RAWG stuff, Manchester has taken a big hit as far as his “heavy” band goes. I love Andy, and this album is good. But personally I don’t think it’s what MO should sound like. And yah, I know I don’t get to decide that. It’s a great album, but it’s far below the bar MO can reach. It’s like that last Sunny Day Real Estate album... is it good? Sure it is, but it really just sounds like Enigk’s solo music. So here’s to hoping Andy puts the fire back in MO for the next album.
  • Amazing band as always!

Even though the band style always evolves Andy Hall always kills it on the vocals! Hopefully soon can see them again in concert!

Wow! They have made a second masterpiece following up ‘A Black Mile to the Surface’ and it’s beautiful. From beginning to end it’s magical the first 4 songs feel like they are the first act followed up by sets of songs that seem like two more acts. Listen and buy this album you’ll be hooked!
