Aly and Aj’s music is so soothing! This album is something you’d listen to on a late night drive or while looking out at the ocean. I have fallen in love with this album ever since I heard Slow Dancing and Pretty Places and knew the rest would be amazing!!!

I loved all the singles, so I bought the album without listening to the previews, but I have to say that I am pretty disappointed. One of my biggest pet peeves in music is repetition, and they repeat lyrics for most choruses or just have instrumentals or vocalizations rather than any lyrics at all. This feels like lazy songwriting at best, especially since some lyrics don’t seem to flow at all (including the album title--what's that about?) I am not sure that I would’ve purchased anything other than the singles had I previewed the album.

There's such a range to this album, and yet it still ties so well together to complete an incredible album fitting for the summer and a nice long road trip. I don't know how they did it, but they did. We know they've surpassed their Disney days long ago, this just puts those years well beyond the rearview mirror. Bravo.

This album is everything I always wanted to hear musically but cannot remember, like some sort of distant dream. But only now its REAL. Finally, some ACTUAL pop alternative songs that are really good.
Aly & Aj have released two EP’s recently, “Ten Years” and “Sanctuary” along with a few stand alone tracks. Such as “Joan Of Arc On The Dance Floor”.
However, after 14 years, we finally get their long awaited full length album “a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you and then into the sun” — And it was absolutely worth the wait.
It’s almost hard to believe, but every song on this album is insanely good.
Songs like “Lost Cause” , “Luck to Get Him” and “Break Yourself” showcase their profound songwriting skills/vocals as musicians/band.
This is definitely a record you want to listen to in your car with the windows down, driving by the beach, or on your next road trip.
