  • It’s Okay, it’s just the songs are a little too short.

When the first single “Hard” released, it sound like Natural Selection, I thought “the song is good, I was expecting it to be a little longer and yes the new singer sounded like Steven Tyler then Brett Scallions.” It takes me awhile to listen to it over and over again to appreciate it and enjoying it as well. The Songs on the album seems promising before it’s released, but almost all the songs are short, but not call of them and i like a few songs from the album. It’s not Fuel’s best album, but it’s good to hear Carl Bell’s songwriting and his guitar playing again, just wish the songs could’ve been better (in terms of making them longer.) and giving the fans want they wanted from the classic Fuel Albums like Sunburn, Something like Human & Natural Selection (with I love). Hopefully they’ll do better in the next album.🤞

  • Fuel 4.0

This is at least the fourth version of Fuel, seeing how every 7 years or so Carl and Brett switch places and bring a new lineup with them. Angels & Devils was a decent album that would've been better with Brett singing, and Puppet Strings was proof that Brett still sounds good but just isn't capable of writing very memorable songs. Now Carl's back with another singer, once again closer to Toryn than Brett, but very little works this time out. "Landslide" is a different sound but still weirdly catchy, and "Give" is a highlight as others have said. The production kind of drags this down - everything sounds processed and polished to death (especially the drums) so even the high energy songs sound rather lifeless. It's a shame those two can't work things out and do another album together, but if it ever happens I'm sure it'll be better than this.

And that's about the only thing about this album. You can definitely hear his musical style and influence. I wish they coulda just sorted it out, but this dudes voice is just so...annoying. So commercial. It's so bad, if I can't have Brett, I'd rather have Toryn back.
  • Just not the same

Listened to the album and it is clear that Brett set the bar and will always be the voice of Fuel all of the other vocalists are just cheap imitations.

Fuel is in my top five favorite artists ever and Carl Bell is one of the best songwriters of his generation. He is the Jerry Cantrell of Fuel. However, unlike Jerry, Carl's work isn't immediately good with any singer. Toryn Green exemplified this with how his run of the mill "rawk guy" vocals held back Carl's songwriting on Angels & Devils. I'm sad to say John Corsale is no different. Made by a literal bar band, plus Kevin Miller, Fuel's Anomaly is catchy and does have bits and pieces of what made Fuel great, but ultimately feels incomplete, generic and rushed. Songs like Don't Say I, The Only One (which borrows from Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin) Keep it Away and Alive all feel very reminiscent of Fuel's prime. However, all songs are extremely short and rushed, with Don't Say I barely having a second verse. The Only One doesn't even have that! Give is the best song on the album and really shows off Carl's country roots. But ultimately Corsale's stale vocals and the album's short runtime keep Anamoly from being as good as it should be. As a massive Fuel fan I think the future of the band could be improved in three ways. 1) have Carl become the frontman and sing the songs himself 2) Get a singer who has a unique voice and stage prescence (personally recommend Creed's Scott Stapp) 3) Make an album with a concrete direction and vision as opposed to a rush collection of generic pop rock songs made for radio. Anamoly isn't awful but it is a let down

Hello everyone. I have (in the past) partied witht he bad till 4am, been invited to jump on their tour bus and go to the next city, so needless to say I have been a fan. Did I like Brett sound and singing, yes. It was veru unique at the time raspy angst. Did his personel problems and personality conflicts end that relationship. Yes. I get everyne comparing tot he old and saying who is the bad. That same argument has been going on for decades with Pink Floyd, you are either Waters or Gilmore. So lets talk music, is it a decent album and worth a listen. Yes. Is it Sunburn or Something like Human, no. So enjoy it or sample it and move on.

Really strong songwriting. Give and Landslide are standouts to me. Also, the best guitar work I’ve heard on a Fuel album.
  • A good album

First thought is, it’s a good album. “Hard “is a great song and I really like “Give”. When the band first started having lineup issues it was rumored they reached out to Chris Daughtry fresh off his American Idol run. I think with John as the front man we get a hint to what that would have sounded like. Especially on “Give”, it even flows like a Daughtry song. Brett has a certain believable sorrow in his voice that to me works best with Karl’s guitar riffs and writings. I think Brett would have made all the Toryn stuff much better and possibly major hits. I do feel John is a decent replacement if it has to be and he’s easy on the ears. I don’t claim to know what’s the issues are between Brett and Karl but those dudes need to work that crap out as they are missing out on being great instead of good🤘🤘

Long time fuel fan. Times age and everything changes. Live long enough and everything you once knew will be different. Same goes with the Band Fuel. This has many good tracks to purchase and I did. I don't try to compare this to something 15 years ago. It's evident a bunch of work went into this release. Great release from a guy that truned 60 this year!
