The pop people don’t love it, but this is their best album and far and away my favorite of theirs. Such great music, writing, content, harmonies… everything. Just awesome. I hope this isn’t their only trek down this different path, because it’s amazing
  • Brave album, brave artists

There’s more to life than dance music. Some of us like to listen to music that makes you think. Provides hope or introspection. I am grateful that Brandon Flowers is brave enough to explore his roots and address the emotional roller coaster of living in a small town. Do I want every succeeding killers album to be like this? No. But I have enough respect for the artistic process to appreciate this beautiful album.

Fans want albums like Hot Fuss, not whatever the heck this garbage is!

I’ve been listening to The Killers for years and each new album tells a story. I’m not big on the interviews at the beginning of each song but that’s what the abridged version is for, other than that they give a tone to each song. This album is for die hard Killers fans and those who respect Brandon’s song writing abilities. These are truly meaningful songs.
  • Well done! Currently my favorite

This album caught me by surprise. The lyrical story-telling is well done. I wasn't sure how I felt about the dialogue between songs at first, but it grew on me. This is currently my favorite album. I find myself skipping other songs in my randomized list, looking for Pressure Machine.

Awful. Just awful. What happened?? They lost their edge and fun vibe. Worst album of all time.
  • Almost their best work

I don't know how to start this review. This Killer's 7th studio release, Pressure Machine (PM), is one of the best albums that's come from this epic band. The sound is a different context for them to work in, keeping that undercurrent of Killers richness that flows through all their work. Brandon Flowers writes about the rural town he grew up in (Nephi, UT) telling stories of past memories, events that took place shaking the town's core, the character of the people, and the landscape that surrounds them. Touching on subjects like opioid addiction, tragic events, people searching for a way out, people searching for a way in, LGBTQIA issues, suicide, domestic abuse, love, revenge, and "hard working people, if you need help they'll lend you a hand." The sound introduces a country/rock/folk vibe similar to Springsteen (of course) that soars with the inclusion of long lost band member Dave Keuning (who followers are so glad to have back in the mix after taking hiatus). The music is powerful and lovely and moves you as only Killers' songs can. I've been very disappointed over the years that the Killers have not won a Grammy for their work. I was hoping this album might be the one that gets them the recognition they deserve; however, I was wrong, not even a nod. [I would go on right now about how the Grammys have turned irrelevant over the years but I won't.] PM is a sonic journey that leaves you wanting more. It's cohesive, flows perfectly, tells the story of the land and people captured within it and brings you closer to this small town, as well as Flowers himself. I really struggled with making this my #1 "best" Killers album but Sam's Town (ST) is pure gold and not even this album, no matter how good it is, can top ST. So ST is still the best Killers album they've ever recorded (IMO) with PM a very, very, very close second. From beginning to end this album is perfect. Key Track(s): West Hills, Quiet Town, Terrible Thing, Sleepwalker, In The Car Outside, Desperate Things, Pressure Machine, The Getting By
  • Gritty and Dark

The album is gritty and dark and engages in the kind of raw storytelling where you can see the cigarette smoke hanging in the air. Possibly their best work yet.
  • Probably the worst album ever

At first I thought it was just that every single track has an intro of talking before the actual song starts, trying to base a theme of what each song is about (Completely unnecessary). So, I edited out the talking from every track and tried it again. A couple times actually. For a brief listen I thought the songs were actually not bad. Unfortunately, however the songs are overly dramatic to a breaking point. Like, it’s broken. This album is terrible. Now I’m afraid to buy another one of their future albums for fear that every song will have a talking intro and be overly dramatic.
  • So, so good

This is a great album on so many levels. It’s not what you’d expect following Hot Fuss or Sam’s Town, at least singles-wise, but it’s a great sound, with some great stories, a small-town vibe, and Dave came back for some songs. This is in my top 3 Killers albums. The album does fit well with Sam’s Town (not rocking-wise, but songs like Uncle Jonny, This River is Wild, Why Do I Keep Counting…”) Also, It’s ok to mature with or away from your artists. Like another listener/reviewer wrote, there’s not a weak track on this thing. High quality ATMOS sound is a bonus, with all these acoustic sounds.
