    Didn’t think it would live up to the hype, given how great the studio version is…but it surpassed expectations. It’s like hear Sgt Pepper’s live with the amps turned up just a bit more. So so good.

    To hear Pharaoh Sanders play live for his first time honestly had me going, to be able to hear the coordination between solos and both Coltrane and Sanders bouncing off each other was unlike any other live performance I heard. The main thing here though is improvisation which is everywhere in jazz but on this album I think it’s represented best for Coltranes whole career which may sound far fetched but listen to part 2 and you’ll see what I mean. Another thing is Jimmy Garrison his interludes were top notch unlike the other lives I’ve heard him. I think garrisons playing and Sanders as well really shines on this record and shows you how necessary they were in advancing Coltranes ideas and dreams, man is this an album to experience I haven’t heard it on vinyl but I guarantee you that will be above all one of the best live album experiences I will ever have. Hope everyone gets a chance to listen to this album and see how talented this group was!
