I love this band! i found them in a playing in a little boutique and all i wish is that itunes carried more of their cds. They are perfectly claming to listen to :]
  • Great Album...how can you criticize alternative country for well being alternative

Whoever wrote the review for itunes has rocks in his head; this album is brilliant. True these songs were recorded as demos (insert usual cliches), but this just prevents studio production from needlessly encroaching on beautifully crafted songs - the very idea that sparked the alternative country movement. Whether intentional or not, who can argue with the result?
  • Good yes, but where are the rest?

I love this record too, and it's great to hear them in their embryonic state – but there are much better Jayhawks albums – "Sound of Lies" and "Smile" to name a couple. I wonder why they're not available yet on iTunes. If you want another treat, go find frontman Gary Louris' solo debut "Vagabonds", just out this Feb. It's beautiful.

I loved the old Jayhawks, and was lucky enough to see them play the 400 Bar at Cedar-Riverside in Minneapolis several times before the 400 practically became a flippin' fern bar. Enough about that. This is beautiful, rough around the edges and not always "mature" Jayhawks to be sure, but I love this album for the great Olson-Louris harmonies and the whole "rough around the edges" feel.
  • A must have for any Jayhawks fan

Don't pay attention to the mediocre reviews of this album. It's really good. Highly recommended! My favorite tracks are: Two Angels and The Baltimore Sun. Buy it now!
  • An amazing start

This collection of songs is the result of several demos made over a couple of years while the band was still gaining a regional following. There is a deeply organic feel to The Jayhawks' work, which still shines despite the somewhat low budget sound of these recordings. While I would point a non-Jayhawks fan to start with 'Hollywood Town Hall' or 'Tomorrow The Green Grass', I would also strongly recommend this album to anyone who really appreciates the early days of 'alt.country'.

The review above this one is foolish and stupid. The Jayhwaks are one of the best bands ever!
