  • I prefer Fundamental

It's a shame the best tracks on this album do not appear at all on Fundamental. In my opinion, Pet Shop Boys remixes are never quite as good as their original recorded album or single versions. Still, as far as remix albums go, this is a fine effort.

Both Fundamental & This companion CD are Pure PSB at their Finest! Just the re-working of "In Private" with Elton John singing (& sounding Great) is worth the $$$. Great Driving music... if you like to drive fast like me ;-)
  • Great remixes

This companion to Fundamental is great. I look always forward to the remixes after PSB releases an album. This collection did not disappoint me at all.

To hear "Fugitive" is to hear PSB at their finest in years. "In Private" with Elton John is sheer brilliance. I applaud PSB for dusting off an old song they wrote for Dusty Springfield. A loving tribute indeed! The rest are must have remixes.
  • Introspective 2

What a brilliant idea! Release what were actually craving for right next to what will actually make them a living. This way, everybody's happy. I call this Introspective 2 because its so much like their first Introspective album in that it fills the appetite. It's not a pop album for show, or popular notice, or anything like that. This is pure pulse psb. Something I can actually slap my laps with. Yes, a true compliment to Fundamental in that it's the encore we really want from a very good show already. You get to go home happy.

The Pet Shop Boys have long been known for their love of remixes. This album brings together some very solid ones due to the excellent source material and the talented producers doing the remixing. Think of it as the ice to Fundamental's glass of scotch... However, the two strongest tracks from this album are not remixes of songs from Fundamental... "Fugitive" and "Flamboyant" are not to be missed; they are masterful pieces of dark chocolate-covered synth-pop.
  • Varied and terrific

For too many artists, remix albums are chock-full of only slightly changed versions of the album or radio edits, or hastily-assembled collections of club-friendly DJ remixes. Not so with Pet Shop Boys -- their remixes always push the envelope, sometimes entering the domain of practically entirely new songs crafted from the remnants of the originals. Fundamentalism is available packaged with Fundamental in a two-CD set in record stores, and I'd highly recommend buying both here on iTunes as well. Standouts include Sodom (Trentroller Mix), Minimal (Lobe Mix) and In Private (Stuart Chrichton Club Mix) -- a song PSB originally wrote for Dusty Springfield, with accompanying vocals from Elton John, who seems to be doing his best to channel Andy Bell of Erasure fame. Just outstanding work -- a must-have for PSB enthusiasts and a real eye-opener for people think that this band's work started with West End Girls and ended with Opportunity.
  • Must have collection of b-sides & remixes!

Fantastic collection of b-sides and remixes. Standouts are the new track Fugitive and the new version of In Private (with Elton John adding vocals). Just get it! To the comment about Luna Park - it is on the actual album Fundamental. This is the remix/b-side companion. Fundamental is great as well and here on iTunes.
  • They made a good album even better

I thought the songs of Fundamental were among the strongest the Pet Shop Boys have recorded. Fundamentalism takes those songs a step further. Not all of them are home runs, but overall a good, solid album. Definitely worth your investment.
