If you’re a Muppet fan, this album answers a question you’ve had for years, maybe even decades. “Where is the Electric Mayhem album?” And with that much time gone by without the album, expectations were huge. And yet, this album delivers on those expectations handily. It’s a great mix of new songs, covers, and the single most essential song in the band’s history. What makes this album great is that even though the characters are silly and the show very comedic, the music is absolutely not. If you’re expecting a novelty record, look somewhere else, because what you get here is just straight up great tunes performed by a fictional band so awesome that they transcend fictionality and become realified. My only caveat is to watch the show to its conclusion before you buy the album. Though I get the feeling that if you’re here, considering whether or not to add this to your library, you’ve likely already done just that.
