I JUST heard these guys on the radio driving to work the other day (Your Touch). I was blown away. What a voice! Raspy, edged and bluesy, of course. I'll tell you who Auerbach really sounds like...Paul Rodgers, of Bad Company, Free, The Firm and now Queen fame. And his guitar work, while not the caliber of, say, Stevie Ray Vaughn, still fits the mold perfectly for the genre of music he is playing. It works. I am so glad to see young guys actually play music with some history, as opposed to these wanna-be punk fluff artists who only want to sell records. Who could tell you who the Stooges were (No Fun)? The Keys do and add an edge to it that plays well, even though I love what Iggy and the Stooges did with it originally. The Black Keys fill a much needed niche that has been void for a long time.

More heavy stuff from a great rock band. The move to a major hasn't changed a thing, get it and enjoy.

But why the clean sounding electric tinged vocals? This new album really lost the dirty gritty blues feel that the last couple albums had. I think that sound was what made them stand apart. Now it seems that whoever recorded this is trying to make them sound "main stream". Stick to your guns Black Keys. The dirt and grit is what made you rock. Dont lose that sound.

I believe we have witnessed the new EP from one of the bands that will withstand the tests of time. Dan and Patrick's music never grows old with me... They will break new ground. This EP is the next step on the road that they have been traveling for a long time

The new Black Keys' singles, Your Touch and Strange Desire both stand alone from their past work. Since they have learned how to position their microphones for recording sessions, The Black Keys now have a cleaner and less distorted sound. Although it's a less "bluesy" sound, I do approve and I can't wait for Magic Potion to come out on September 12th . . . and because they're my favorite band of all time!
  • they have done it again.

This band is the dirtiest, nastiest thing to happen to rock 'n' roll in the last 20+ years. If you aren't stomping your foot to this you might want to check your pulse. That two men can make all this noise is nothng short of miraculous.

The Black Keys make more than music here. Their touch is beyond rock. I love this album.
