First of all, regardless of everyone's varying opinions I think what was truly shameful about Natalie's comment (being ashamed to be from the same state as Bush) was everyone's complete disregard for her first amendment right. That's all I'll say on that subject. As for their music, I was lucky enough to see them at Madison Square Garden. I've seen about 60 or so artists in my life (I'm only 24 so there is a lot to go) and they were one of the best acts I've ever seen. It was wonderful. I can't say enough what amazing musicians these women are. I'm so glad they put out this disk. Now I can relive it whenever I want!!

This CD made me a dixie chick fan. I don't consider myself a country fan but this CD changed my whole though process. They sound amazing live! "Top of the World" is my favorite song by far. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. This CD is in my top 5 favorites, easy! Buy this album, even if you aren't crazy about the dixie chicks. If you like good music, you won't regret your discussion.

This is an amazing live CD. It was released after their incident with President Bush, but you can still tell they have many loyal fans who love them. Natalie's voice soars on here. You can tell she is a real singer. And they don't edit the vocals much on the studio albums. I love this whole CD. Every song on here. [Disc One] 1. Goodbye Earl - 10/10* 2. Some Days You Gotta Dance - 9/10 3. There's Your Trouble - 10/10 4. Long Time Gone - 10/10* 5. Tortured, Tangled Hearts - 10/10* 6. Travelin' Soldier - 10/10* 7. Am I the Only One (Who's Ever Felt This Way) - 10/10* 8. Hello Mr. Heartache - 9/10 9. Cold Day In July - 9/10 10. White Trash Wedding - 9/10 11. Lil' Jack Slade -8/10 [Disc Two] 1. A Home - 9/10 2. Truth No. 2 - 10/10* 3. If I Fall You're Going Down With Me - 10/10 4. Mississippi - 8/10 5. Cowboy Take Me Away - 10/10 6. Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) - 10/10* 7. Landslide - 10/10 8. When my mom was sick & dying she came to stay with us for a few months. She loved country music (I hated it). I thought she liked the "old" stuff oh was I wrong! She loved this group called the Dixie Chicks. They were so sexy I was shocked. So end of the story goes, I fell in love with their sound. They all have the most beautiful voices. I have all of their albums & strongly suggest that people separate the things "people think" and what they do. Music is food for my soul and they really know how they feed me! LOVE THEM! ! !
  • Great album from a great band

I heard Travelin' Soldier on an internet radio station and the song gave me chills. I knew I had to buy this. I sorta liked them before but that song just made me a certified fan. The album is great and with the popular songs mixed in with lesser known I think it's a great start for those that don't know the band's entire discography.
  • Maines Big Mouth: stupidity or publicity stunt?

This album and their concert DVD are both absolutely excellent, with great cross-over appeal fueled mostly by the virtuoso backing musicians they used (including Maines' father, who also produced "Home"). But the music isn't the problem. Maines simply can't keep her mouth shut. The Chicks core audience are "red" states and she went deliberately out of her way to insult that audience! Not to mention attacking the leader of her country in a war for our very existence. I don't know if it these outburts are coldly calculated publicity stunts or just a total lack of brain-mouth filtration. Her remarks did massive damage to the band. Not only were record sales disappointing compared to their previous records, but dozens of concerts had to cancelled because the tickets simply wouldn't sell. While the iTunes reviewer repeats the tired and ridiculous Lib rant about "talk radio", conservative pundits had nothing to do with it. It was COUNTRY MUSIC stations which pulled the Chicks' songs from rotation because of outraged listeners--the same people who WEREN'T buying concert tickets or albums. Not coincidentally, the vast majority of record sales and concert dates occured in "blue" states. Maine's mouth has forever ruined the pleasure I got from their music--and I'm not a country fan, not by an, er, country mile. But I really dug a lot of their stuff. How someone could sing such a heart-rendingly beautiful ballad as "Traveling Soldier" and then implicitly (and publicly AND in a foreign country!) insult the very soldiers she sings about boggles the mind. Unless she's walk-in-to-walls-stupid--and there's NO evidence of that--it must just have been a badly misguided attempt at generating publicity. The only other explanation is that she let her hatred of the President overwhelm good sense (open mouth: insert career). So these Country belles shouldn't kid themselves: they holed themselves below the waterline and its highly doubtful they'll ever reach the statosphere to which they were headed (and Toby Keith? He's already there; Entertainment Weekly called him "the first post-Garth country superstar").
  • Great music - what can I say?

These ladies are the masters of thier craft... the audience tells the tale. As far as the political (or patriotic) theme runs.. the only sin these ladies comitted was stating what is common, accepted parlance today.. just earier than the pundits/Generals/candidates (less 100-years-war Macain) are saying as this is written.
  • Even Better Live!

Oh my gosh, the Dixie Chicks are even better live! That is so rare nowadays, with all the fake artists (especially female ones) changing up there voices with the computers. Its so good to hear a live recording that is acctually so good and pure, and just shows how talented the Dixie Chicks really are. Way to go!
