  • A Career Album!

This is a strong and mature effort by a group who has mastered their special style of music. And they truly hold their own signature nitche that pulls rock, country, and blues into solid southern ambrosia. The thing that puts this CD over the top is their coming of age in the process of production. All instruments and parts are truly in service of the individual songs as well as the overall album concept. And the mix can't be beat. There's a golden ear somewhere behind this effort. The writing is top-notch as always, and maybe a little bit better than any to date. The voices are crisp and blended superbly, and are set out front of the instruments to perfection. Their quality and timbre can be appreciated more than on any previous effort. The instrument blend doesn't run together into a garble. Every part can be heard clearly. Cudos! Hazel has followed in the path of other quality 90s rock bands who have released coming of age albums in the past few years (eg- BTE: After the Robots, VH: Go!, and Toto: Falling in Between), mostly in indie efforts. This is Hazel in her prime. Don't stop guys-- this is your legacy during a time when rock masters go unnoticed by the music industry. I can't stop listening, and I know I'm not alone.

What a great surprise. The band has suddenly shown up with the best album of their career. Great songs and a yummy variety of aural textures. Lots of great highs and lows. Rockin one minute on "Shame" and tearing your heart out on "Everything Else Disappears" The lead singer Ken, sounds like he means it with his best vocals ever, seasoned but not overly polished. "Tear by Tear" is a masterpiece. "Beautiful High" soars. "Mandolin Moon" makes you wanna raise your beer and dance. Love "This Kinda Love." The band sounds confident and the vocal blend is stellar. Buy copies for every car you plan to have on a highway!

ABSOLUTELY is another in a long line of great music put out by talented musicians. SISTER HAZEL has been pumping out the rock for years, and like a fine wine just keeps getting better with age.

This album is one of Sister Hazel's best. Catchy melodies and skillful guitar riffs make it definately worth buying. I'm a musician myself, so I am able to fully apreciate the amount of care that went into this album, and it's truly professional. None of the songs are filler, so enjoy from start to finish. I really hope that the boys from my hometown of Gainesville finally get the large scale recognition they deserve!!
