From the moment i discovered this band, I have experienced nothing but a steadily growing respect and love for their skill and music. They have quickly become one of my favorite bands. They are just so cool and the new face of quality rock. They are one of two bands, along with Wilco, that I would undoubtedly put on the modern era's Mt. Rushmore of rock. This album, along with all their albums, is hard to categorize by puting individual songs on playlists. That's because noone else sounds like them. A large part of that is Daniel's vocals. I absolutely love his singing. Everything he sings sounds so cool. Nearly every track that features his vocals is at least a 3 star song - with the vast majority of them being 4 stars. It's a 1 to 1 ratio: Britt sings = good song. Another thing that makes them so unique is their innovation as noted by the itunes editor's review. I don't always go for sonic experimentation as it usually turns to pretentious crap, but it usually has the opposite effect for Spoon. And, as the editor also noted, they really do make it sound effortless. Like musical skill, great lyrics, and coolness is as second nature to them as breathing. Though this is probably only my 4th favorite Spoon album, it's still got great stats. Interestingly, my star ratings kind of mirror the popularity ratings on I-Tunes and that's usually not the case for me. The three most popular songs are also my three highest rated. There's one 5 star song in Underdog (the most popular song), four 4 star songs (Cherry Bomb, Don't You Evah, etc.), four 3 star songs, just one 2 star song and no throwaways.

I gave it a star less than perfection because Gimmie Fiction was all five and this is not as good.
  • Incredible Writing, Amazing all the way through

This album is one of my favorites. If you don't know who Spoon is all the more reason to buy it and start your obsession with this awesome melody driven band.

I love these guys, their early stuff (kill the moonlight/girls can tell) sounds like St. Vitus Dance. Underdog is good but my favorite is still Jonathan Fisk.
