This 1987 release marked Phase Two in Barry Manilow's career and marks the return of Barry to his Arista family after his one-off with RCA. This was the first cd I ever bought and I still have the original, this version is the 1996 remaster sonically enhanced utilizing 24-bit technology. This was also the first time I heard Diane Schuur and I became a huge fan, love her duet with Barry on "Summertime." Another duet is "Black And Blue" performed with the late, great, Phyllis Hyman. "Stompin' At The Savoy" is arranged with electronics where an orchestra would have been and Barry supplies all the vocals via overdubbing, "Brooklyn Blues" was so hip in 1987 and earned Barry an A/C hit. While this album is plugged in, Barry strips the production away for an intimate version of "Stardust" and the rest of the album winds down from there.

I am not particulary a Barry Manilow fan but I really enjoy this album. I like the swing songs & the upbeat tempo.
