John Prine is a songwriter of great quality. He has a wry commentary of the human condition. His home-spun humour, matched with his stark honesty, is what makes him great. Bruised Orange is quite possibly my favorite, although most of his other work is very good also. If you want to listen to music with true meaning, then John Prine is your man!

As with his first album a consistently great collection of songs telling stories. The style is mostly acoustic country with a strong folk influence. The voice is gravelly with great character, but more in tune than Dylan. Very appropriate for stories about quiet desperation, regret, acceptance, and impromptu fun. He comes across as someone who loves being with his fellow man, for all his faults, follies, and strengths. A mensch. I would love to meet him in person, but this will serve as a great substitute.

when i was a little kid i grew up listening to this album.....ive probably heard all of these songs 100 times before...recently i asked my dad who the guy was i listened to when i was a kid and he told me john prine...i realized how much i loved his music when i listened to it again...its funny listening to it now and remembering listening to it when i was really little because i had my own interpretations of each song. This album gets an A+ and brings back some great memories

Nothing tops John Prine's first album, but the reviewer is right -- this is his second best. Like the first, there are songs here that will stay with you. I bought this when it came out in 1978. What a fine album.
