I only new the song "Hide and Seek", and so thought of her when I was looking for new music. I am SOOO impressed by the originality, the unique musical arrangements, and the powerful lyrics. She is truly someone who thinks outside the box, and comes up with something profound and inspiring. Still listening and discovering new things each time I listen. What a joy!

Imogen is an "artist's artist". meaning if you are one yourself.... You understand the complexity and meaning of this album. It's wonderful and I am so proud of her. She put her whole soul in to every song and it makes me almost sick to my stomach when I see people saying that this album was a let down..... If you had an issue understanding or grasping one of her songs, then give it another few listens. Hopefully you will discover what I, and so many of her other fans have discovered. Love you imogen!

I'm almost offended by these "big fans" posting reviews so here's mine. Ellipse is a new tone to Imogen's music, instead of the addicting bass and drumming in Speak For Yourself. Ellipse is littered with flowing, almost watery lyrics and sounds. Her incredible use of items to make her tracks is astounding. Instead of finding yourself humming the beats like Speak for Yourself. You will find yourself singing the lyrics of Ellipse. Here's my list: Tidal: Everything from her heart and soul is in this song, you can hear it and you can feel it. Aha: Absolutely addicting, fun, incredlble sounds and a jaw dropping chorus. First Train Home: We've all been there, we just don't want to be there anymore. Wait it Out: Makes me cry everytime, relationships you don't know if they'll work, you just have to wait it out. Earth: Every little sound is from her mouth, nuff said. Between Sheets: A song of sex, but classy and romantic. Love it. 2-1: Magical, ethereal. Makes me think about the stars and how little we know of the unknown. Bad Body Double: Ever stare at yourself in the mirror and think "You're not me."? Canvas: She really gets into your head in this track, it's like she's talking to your soul on another plane of consciousness. Half Life: I cried, a failed relationship.

This album almost tells a story. The songs are all beautiful. I can't complain, except that there is a suggestive song and an explicit song. "Tidal" is sexually suggestive and "Between Sheets" is quite descriptive. Also, "Bad Body Double" has a curse word in it. These songs are not family friendly, but they are beautiful and well written. I would recommend "Little Bird" to those planning to buy one song.
  • Way better than "Speak for Yourself"

If you loved Frou Frou, but didn't love Speak for Yourself, you might want to give this one a listen. It's a lot closer to the quirky melodic bent of Heap's Frou Frou days. I love Heap's voice, but thought her last album really wasted it on a failed attempt at Top-40 pop. This one's more harmonically complex, lots of layered backing vocals, and the lyrics are WAY better. It's lightweight, but pretty.

and I'm glad I did. I'm a die hard fan of Speak for Yourself. I've listened to it thousands of times, nearly every day. I'm utterly obsessed. I mean it's bad. So I have to admit I was setting myself up for disappointment with her latest, Ellipse. I didn't care much for it the first few times I listened to it. I had a feeling it was going to grow on me and I was right. My favorite tracks are First Train Home, Swoon, Between Sheets, Canvas, and Half-Life. Half-Life might just be my very favorite of all her songs--it's breathtakingly beautiful.
  • An Album That Cannot Be Compared. Beautiful.

I first heard of Imogen Heap, just last last year from a fellow coworker. I never thought to much of it till someone introduced me the song "Hide And Seek". Ellipse was the first album I bought, it wasn't what I expected at all. It has a melancholy, ethereal, deep, beautiful feeling, that takes sometime to welcome. After that I bought "Speak For Yourself" and I saw the difference, but the skill of Imogen Heap as a lyricist, and as a composer. I simply cannot get away from my love of this album. My favorite is the following: 2-1- a haunting song about facing the truth. Little Bird - to my belief, is about a family who puts on a perfect visage, but something dark stirs. Half Life - it is a truthful as it is, and a more straightforward song of simple fear of the future. Aha! - is simply my favorite, lyrics are wonderfully stacked together about the fake goody two-shoes.
