I listen to this album over and over. I just can't get enough of it. The blend of kd's voice with the music is smooth. Sugar buzz is rocky fun. Other songs like sorrow nevermore are contemplative but infused with kd' s playful style. Her singing is exquisite. Something about this music brings me joy and comfort.

This summer, a good friend of mine and I attended k.d.'s concert for Sing It Loud at Ravinia just north of Chicago. What an amazing concert. k.d. is totally invested in her music and this concert really showcased her talent. She and her new band sent so much energy into the audience, we were all blown away! Imagine a perfect early summer evening and k.d.'s music...I am glad I bought and listened to "Sing It Loud" before attending the concert. This album is one of k.d.'s best. Very creative and yet her voice is so smooth and so effortless. My favorites that I enjoy listening to over and over again are Perfect Word, The Water's Edge, and Heaven. I just discovered that Talking Heads originally performed Heaven and their version of the song is very different from k.d.'s. I hope you write and sing many more songs in your career, k.d.! We love you.

I really think this should be in the running for album of the year. I NEVER listened to k.d. lang before this album but I heard it from a friend and it is AWESOME. Rootsy, bluesy, thoughtful, rockin this is REAL MUSIC that touches your SOUL. I find myself listening to this album continuously, and I even sing some of the tunes to my son as lullabies. If you don't have this album, you are missing one of the seminal works in 21st century music (that sounds like it could have come out of the 60s, in a good way).

Why Country Time Lemonade hasn't commissioned k.d. lang to be their songsperson is beyond me. I mean, this album makes me want to get a big glass of lemonade, go for a stroll down a country road, and take a dip in a creek. It's such a silky, cool, and inviting album. I've long felt like k.d.'s albums tend to follow seasonal themes (such as Summerfling's nod to summer, Hymns of the 49th Parallel's tone of winter, Drag's essence of fall, and Watershed's hope for spring). This album covers a lot of those bases, and with the addition of The Siss Boom Bang comes across as a nod to Roy Orbison in a way that only k.d. can pull off. It's a great listen from start to finish, and I highly recommend it. "Water's Edge" is my favorite, and it's one of my favorite things she's ever done.
