Pumped up kicks mentions a kid who found his dad’s six shooter gun and wanted to shoot the kids with the pumped up kicks. Then why’d I rate it 5 stars? Because of the meaning of the song. Pumped Up Kids is a teen/kid impowerment song. The kids with the pumped up kicks were apparently teasing/bullying the kid talked about in the song and the kid is angry at them. I should mention the lyric that says “And he’s bringing me a surprise” is probably the dad getting kid said pumped up kicks. It is also implied that the family is poor, so the dad was working hard for those pumped up kicks for his son. Also, Foster The People had an interview for the song, so don’t tell me i’m wrong 😊. But anyways, through and through, I believe that this song is just how people can be cruel and about rebellion. The kid is being teased/bullied and it’s out of his control because of the family’s finances, so he talks about shooting them.
