I don't ususally write reviews but am compelled to do so today. Both "precious" and "hope" are worth the price of the album and more... How much would one pay to be moved emotionally like this? Stunning... Mastery of both the instrument and music itself. Depth. Compassion.

A wonderful album with a nod to the 19th century romantics; hints of Chopin here, Schuman or Strauss there. A riff on Prokofiev, and one true Monk to keep us honest. A lovely duo effort!

No saxophonist today plays with this depth of tone and control, and the maturity of creative ideas. Over the past 10 years particularly, Branford Marsalis has set the bar higher and higher for ANY human who picks up a saxophone. I have followed him since he was in his brother's quintet back in the early 80s. Thanks, Branford, for all you do for music, for music education, and for the legacy of great compositions you have left us, let alone those great improvisations........ the lines blur between to the two lately, and that is indeed a wonderful thing. I'm on the fence with this one. I'll probably dwnload a couple of tracks, but I really like @ least a trio. I purchased "Other Hours" (?) (Harry Connick & Branford) a few years ago and it had the same effect on me - I really like a bass or drums.
