I still have this on vinyl, sadly though the vinyl is in a box in storage. I just heard a song on XM and decided to download the album and was pleased to see the unabridged concert on Itunes. This album is just a pure work of art paying tribute to American Folk Music. As much as I loved the Grateful Dead and Jerry, his true talent is shining through brightly, his voice was more suited for Blue Grass than it ever was for Rock n Roll (That is not an insult to Jerry). If you love Folk, Blue Grass and Blues, then this is the album you need.

Jerry in a new light on banjo, tribute to his musical skill, great ensemble player. Why oh why? Lookin back he was trapped in the Dead, would of been a whole lot happier if he stayed up north away from San Francisco. Nice to hear this stuff. timeless roots tunes. Vasseron fiddle, none better than this

Some of the best songs seem to be missing from the iTunes album version. What happened to Land of the Navajo? Can't find the original version anywhere - the one with the incredible wailing ai ya ya ya vocal riff at the end. I still have it on a casette tape but can't find it in digital format.

This is another reason why Jerry Garcia is an extreamly under rated guitarist. His playing here truly allows one to see not only his technical abilities but his versitality as a musician. Furthermore, this album is not all about Jerry, this album is a group of talented musicians playing togeter as a band. The band they played as was simply amazing. Give this album a listen, your sure to find both its cover songs and origonals a very pleasant experience.

grate stuff, my dad got me into it as a kid, only reason i give this a four star is that its not the original vinyl, which will always be the better of the two. if you can get your hands on the old and in the way vinyl id suggest doing so.

These Old & In The Way albums are some of the best stuff I've heard in years, period! Great eclectic song selection with stellar performances on each tune. These are legends getting down in their prime and priceless to any music fan and a holy grail to any bluegrass junkie! ENJOY!
