    Not worth the money.

The remix of Home Is a Fire is killer. The rest are just okay. I was a little disappointed in the RAC Maury mix, I usually enjoy his work more than this.
  • DCFC sell out

Everything except the Some Boys remix blows, period. End of discussion. (although the Some Boys remix is amazing!)
  • There's a reason I turned to Death Cab for Cutie.

I went to the indie scene; not because it was (and is) cool. I went to find a sound. A sound that would really "do it" for me. I have a hard time listening and enjoying anything on the radio. There's this nagging feeling that the artists don't care about good sound, good taste, or anything that's supposed to have us enjoy it. They just make music and pass it as acceptable. I couldn't believe it. The point is, I don't like club remixes for the essential reason that it's a skin deep sound, and adding incessant rhythm and bass is a waste. I wouldn't buy this album for that reason. It seems like a step in the wrong direction.

It's really not to good. The only one on this album that even comes close to correctly portraying DCFC's original songs is the Some Boys remix.

From track 4 onward the remixes get much better (I won't waste time discussing the first three, which I was very unimpressed with). Track 8, unsurprisingly, sounds like a Yeasayer song...take it or leave it. Underneath the Sycamore works, but only because it could just be a brand new song all it's own minus the DC samples...so it does not stand as a strong remix. In terms of a true remix, Unobstructed Views is probably the most solid track on the album, taking the song in a completely new direction while retaining some of the original identity. That said, it really doesn't wow me, although I might buy that one track for when I feel like listening to something atmospheric. Home is a Fire has potential as a remix, but uses absolutely terrible samples and very uninspired, but oddly forefront, percussion. Sounds like something an eighth grader could've put together at home in a night with some rex loops. In all, this collection had potential, but I don't think any of artists particularly put out high quality work (despite their own talents). It results in a "these are remixed Death Cab songs," feeling--not like it's a brilliant or particularly creative reinterpretation of the original songs. I'm surprised that Gibbard cleared this one for release, given his own talent with production and the subtle brilliance of much of DC (and TPS). It just sounds very lackluster and half-baked.

What a bummer. I guess all good bands die and become irritating. I miss the their early days.
  • I love them, but this..no

I just feel like they sold out. Remixes of songs is something pop singers do or if a song is already electronic, but it doesn't fit Death Cab. They have been my favorite band for several years so it makes me sad to see them go down like this. I want them to be mainstream of course but this is just not good for anyone. I'll over look it though if only because their older cds are genius.
