I have yet to be disappointed by Amon Amarth. Have no fear when they release a new album, their track record at least in the last decade when I became a fan is flawless.

I was not sure I wanted to buy this album for fear the band could not live up-to their past albums. I am glad I bought this album. They continue to pump out outstanding music. "Warriors of the North," "Blood Eagle,""Deciver of the Gods," and "Hel" are the standouts in my mind at the moment.

First of Amon Amarth is Amon Amarth, so don't expect their subject matter to change with this album. However, they just keep getting better and better. There is seems to be a lot of great Maiden influcence in this album, their first 8+ minute epic The Warriors of the North is well epic.... More dual guitar harmonies etc as illustrated by the intro to "Deciver of the Gods" and "As Loke Falls" is a great addition. However this album seems even tighter and heavier than ever. Must have for any Metal lover! PS Seem them live. I seen them twice in 200 - 300 person reviews. They are amazing.

I’m just discovering extreme metal after someone said these guys were an inspiration for Dethklok (which I love), and I have to say this is… epic. Just epic. Nothing compares to this intensity, and I’m really enjoying Amon Arath’s back catalog now as well. Way to turn it up to 11!

Amon Amarth has become one of my favorite bands. If you're looking for great Viking Metal, Amon Amarth will deliver it.

i've been a fan of Amon Amarth since OSFTGH, i have every album, plus early demos, live recordings and eps. And of course there are those that i prefer more than others, specifically Once Sent From The Golden Hall, VS the World, Fate of Norns, With Oden On Our Side, and Twilight Of The Thunder God. this album, Deceiver of the Gods, feels....roomy. like more could be done to expand on musical ideas, especially in the guitar section, instead of repeating merely satisfactory riffs. I miss the energy in tracks like Without Fear, Bloodshed, Asator, Valkyries Ride, Thousand Years of Oppression, Prediction of Warfare, Twilight of the Thunder God, Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags. This album is not bad, but when taking the band's impressive back-catalog into consideration, it's just not that great.
  • Great Album

I just saw the live set for this album two days ago. I've seen Sabbath, Pantera, Slayer, Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, etc. numerous times. Amon Amarth puts on a show that WILL be in the top five shows you've ever seen. The reason that is relevant is because some death metal fans are turned off by high quality production, which AA albums always have. This one is even higher production quality than usual. Don't let that fool you. This album will crush your nuts off.
