I do not carfe about this album as if it lets new fans see orhear a sample of GD old tunes great but Apple, plese stop inserting ths album artwork for every unknonw imported CD from Dave's Picks as I have to go and replace the subscription artwork from Wikipedia or Warner Rhino Records website-so either pay Rhino to get the CD on Apple Music or at least update your database so fans do not waste entier days adding to our paid library that we must subscribe to Apple Music just to push out to our Apple legacy devices no matter how hard we try we cannot sync easily without sub scoribing and its the nasty secret of Apple SW IOS MacOS pay to keep stuff working sneakiness imho not unintentional that old iTunes Match etc.not available to keep libs synced arghh--used to love you but now its like bad marriage...

As many know this is meant for the casual listener or for new fans. Starting here is great, it gives you a chance to hear great tunes such as "Casey Jones", "Uncle John's Band", "Sugar Magnolia" and just so many more. And given that the band cared and still does care about their fans they make sure any remaster and such meets their standards. Grateful Dead is a band that takes a while to get since their influences are many and get into all their songs, but here is a great beginning. After this i reccomend their Skulls & Roses album which is their best live set. So future Deadheads enjoy this.

I like the Dead live way better than in the studio but I also dig most of their studio recordings. That being said this collection should have Fire On The Mountain from Dead Set and a live version of Eyes of the World!

I know so many people jump up and down saying "Only LIVE Grateful Dead Matters!" and "where's THIS obscure song?? that's my fave!" But you die-hards have to understand that a best-of/greatest hits collection is NOT for you. This is just a compilation of all the most popular songs of the group, assembled for the casual listener's convenience as an introduction to the band. And this is a marvelous compilation. Of course it's missing stuff, because GD has more great songs than can fit on an 80 minute capacity CD. "Shakedown Street" is my favorite, and it's not here, but I guess it doesn't need to be. Give the new listeners a chance to fall in love with the studio songs here, then they'll seek out the albums, and want to hear them jammed live. Don't bash on studio recordings or greatest hits albums. Especially when they're done well, like here
