The first review I saw here is most accurate. But I read the following two reviews and thought otherwise. Truth is...the smacking, popping, slurping sound of Jon’s guidance is unbearable. The whistling of his nose as air passes in and out the nostrils resembles the wheezing of congestion. The rise and fall of his voice, the cadence Sable mentioned, is completely off. And continually saying “when you’re ready” and immediately following that with additional guidance is redundant and impossible—you have no choice but to move on because the perpetual distractions emitted from Jon’s tongue, lips, and nose is diabolically intrusive. No, music isn’t needed...an update with proper editing IS. Guess what? Technology HAS advanced as such that the overwhelmingly irritating sounds coming from Jon’s orifices can be done away with. Now I’m out $20 for the snap, crackle, pop babbling brook of sound in this “guided” meditation. Smh

This is a subtly effective, 4-lesson album. Kabat-Zinn uses words in a masterful and nuanced way. His suggestion is to follow each program for two weeks and then choose the one(s) that speak most directly to you. To those who say "Needs music", I'd reply that you can add your own to it... but if it had music, people like me wouldn't be able to remove it, right?
  • Excellant for me

This is good stuff. Kabat-Zinn doesn't smack his lips or swallow, just the usual sounds of a tongue moving in a mouth. This isn't music, it's good guidance instruction for mindfulness body scan, meditation and basic yoga. I like the guidance and want to be clear about my experience with the album.
  • Poorly edited, needs music

I loved Jon Kabat Zinn's book and was hopeful to augment my practice with these meditations. The sound of his swallowing and smacking is very distracting and took me right out of the practice. The cadence is off, and it was just too difficult to relax. I highly recommend Mark Williams mindful meditations instead
