The Best Huey Lewis Album

I realize that my opinion my be steeped in heavy doses of nostalgia, but this is the best of the Huey Lewis albums, and the album cuts might be stronger than the hit singles. There is a bit of artistic naiveté and creative energy in this sophomore offering that is lacking in the later, more polished efforts. The band’s vocal harmonies are tight, especially on “Change of Heart," “Is It Me” and “The Only One.” “Is It Me” is the best ballad that they ever recorded. Every song on the album is melodically strong—you can sing along with each one. There are not really any filler tracks here. The lyrics, while classic Huey Lewis, still hold some weight in their own way. They deal primarily with break-ups and insecurities. “The Only One” even tells a story. I never tire of hearing this album.
