I am a huge fan of Barenaked Ladies. I have all of their studio albums (except for Snacktime, but that's a children's CD. Although, I have heard their music on that and it is definitely very good). Anyway, I think that this is a fantastic album. A lot of people disliked this album upon it's release. Sure, maybe it doesn't have quite as many great songs as some of BNL's other albums, but personally I enjoyed it quite a bit when I bought it. I had immediately fallen in love with "Celebrity," "Second Best," "Aluminum," "Unfinished," "Upside Down," and even "Another Postcard," (I know, very similar to One Week, and BNL probably was trying to capitalize on it's success, but so what? Why not? It worked with "Pinch Me," and I really enjoy "Another Postcard.") I think people disliked the album for the more political aspect of it and the different sort of style to it. It has a much more mature sound to it than the likes of Gordon or Stunt. But I loved this album, and I feel that it is terribly underrated, by critics and fans alike. Not my favorite album by them but definitely NOT my least favorite either.
  • Definitely worth trying!

The only song to achieve any significant airplay was "Another Postcard". The underpublicized gems on this album are "Testing 1,2,3" , "Unfinished", "Take it Outside" and "For You". If you enjoy the unique sound of Barenaked Ladies, this album has much to offer.

Just good guys that make fun songs with a catchy beat. If you are looking for over the top music to "slit your wrists by", then buy something else. Even their serious songs are direct and to the point. My teenage daughter's favorite band and I'm glad that she likes such a simple, fun, good music type of group. Oh yeah, they like being around each other and it shows in their music and live performances. Good album ....... very good!

On EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE, BNL falls into the trap of trying to live up to the impossible goal of the title, and it shows. Nothing here sounds as natural as the effortlessly catchy pop of "Stunt", the great songwriting of "Born on a Pirate Ship", or the almost indie-rock quirky energy of "Gordon"; instead, we get watered down pop tunes ("Maybe Katie", "War on Drugs") and strained attempts at satire ("Shopping") or outright weirdness ("Another Postcard") that sounds almost like they're a less talented band attempting to imitate themselves. A few decent songs ("Celebrity", "Aluminum") aren't enough to wash the taste of what they used to be out of our mouths, and the entire thing comes across as little more than tepid when we know that they are (or at least were) capable of so much more.

If you aren't aware of what BNL are all about, this in my opinion is a great album to start with. It's got all the signature BNL sounds - deep messages peppered with tons of fun and Steve's great range with enough Ed thrown in to keep me personally happy ( I Love that guy!). Not only should you buy this album, but if you ever have a chance to see them live, go for it! One of the best shows I've ever seen! And to the person who thought Shopping was a lowpoint - that's one of my favorite BNL fun songs! Nothing makes me happier!

I am a huge fan of Barenaked Ladies, always was and always will be. This album is mixed up between good songs and bad. Shopping is by far the worst song on this album. Another Postcard tries to cash in on "One Week" and "Pinch Me" fame, but lacks. The best songs on this album are War on Drugs, Next Time, and Have you Seen My Love. <--Excellent songs. This album is a bit more "electronica", much like Maroon. If you want to hear BNL at their best pick up Gordon, Maybe You Should Drive or Born on a Pirate Ship.

This album is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In most albums, there are a few songs that I don't especially care for, but every single song in this album is great. This is a really great album by a really great band. I would reccomend buying all of their other albums, too. You should really give this album a chance.
