Reviews

  • Perhaps the best pop album I've seen

Switchfoot delivers. After albums like "The Beautiful Letdown" and "Hello Hurricane", they had a lot to live up to. But they deliver. With great pop songs like "Let it out" and the always refreshing "Love Alone Is Worth The Fight", they also deliver their usual great rock song, with "Say it like you mean it" being up there with songs like "Dark Horses", "The Original", and "Meant to live". It's a great album to listen to on a long car trip, along with Edge of the Earth.

Switchfoot has always been one of my favorite bands. I don't know if it is the nostalgia talking or what, but I think they are my favorite band next to The Beatles. One of the things I like about them is how every album they put out is different. You have Fading West and then their first album, Legend of Chin. They've been around for twenty years, they don't want to keep doing the same thing. I'll admit that this is probably my least favorite Switchfoot album. This album is more pop than the usual Switchfoot. I guess to conclude this review I'd say it's good, but not near as good as Nothing Is Sound.
  • Sounds like a trend record

This record doesn't really stand out as much as previous ones. The sound is aggravating because it sounds like every other run of the mill "hipster indie record." Sadly, many bands that held a high status back in the day have gone to this level. I will say however that this record is not entirely terrible. There are a few high points. Overall, it's okay. It's no "nothing is sound, letdown or hurricane," but it's not bad.

This group is the greatest. From uplifting, fun rock songs to emotional, heart-felt love songs. These guys are so influential and amazing, they have changed my life. - Your biggest fan

Really? I love you Switchfoot, I have since the early days behind Charlie peacock...and you have always blown me away with every album in a musical AND a cerebral expression. But honestly, this album sounds like you sold out or something. Musically speaking, I would argue it's the weakest Switchfoot installment ever. hopefully the next album will redeem.
  • Right up there with ‘The Beautiful Letdown'

This is my favorite album yet, boys! You still got it! In fact, somehow, you keep getting better! You topped it with this! Amazing! Thank you.

I love Switchfoot. They're one of my favorites and always have been. But this album is extremely disappointing. After the raw sound and emotion of Vice Verses, this feels like a major step back—almost like they've completely forgotten the sound that made them so successful in the past. This album sounds like any other MercyMe or Jeremy Camp album (nothing against them, though). Switchfoot has a very distinct sound that seems lost on this album. Hopefully they'll do better with the next one. :/
  • Their best one yet! 👍

I bought this album when it first released and it absolutely blew me away! These guys are one of my favorite bands and it seemed as if every song on this record was a soundtrack of my life. Every melody and lyric hit me in a very personal way! I love these guys! I credit Jon Foreman and the guys to helping me get to a place where I could dream again! It's not the sound I was accustomed to, but it was the sound I needed! This album is amazing! One of my favorites!

So I actually just saw Switchfoot at BTF, (big ticket festival), and before that, I had never listened to their music. This band was PHENOMENAL. Absolutely amazing. They performed so good live I just had to buy some songs right after. I can't compare what they're like now as compared to the old, but music is music, and they not only how to write it but also perform it.
