If you take meditation serious then you'll need this album.

"Don't play a small listening room like it's the Taj Mahal." I enjoy new age music, and it is always a part of my morning meditations. I have a number of recordings I use for variety's sake and a lot of them are by Kelly Howell. This particular album sounded sort of science fiction-y when I first listened but the effects it produced were strong. It felt like I had cleared some blockage to my thinking. The music pulses in and out in waves wich gain in intensity as the recording goes on, resolving into an aural brightness somewhere from a bit past halfway - on through to the end of each piece. To sit in silence after hearing either 30 minute piece is purely peaceful and spiritual, and you still feel the music long after it's over which is a good indicator of the quality of the music. Later, at work for instance, I notice I do better at mental tasks, in communication with others, and interfacing with my computer. Like with most Kelly Howell recordings I use, If I concentrate on this one recording for a period of time, say a week, playing it every morning during my meditations, the familiarity with the recording increases the pleasure and benefit received from the listening session. Lastly, new age music should improve your temperament, making it more even, and this recording does just that. You feel smarter too. Kelly Howell, this is a great recording that is appropriately titled. Thank you.

This is an absolute rip off. I'm convinced that every positive review on here is written by someone who financially benefits from you buying these tracks. After trying it on a few occasions, I've found it to do the exact opposite of what it suggests possible. It's more of a distraction than anything, even when the volume is low. Seriously, don't do it.
  • Great for studying

I somehow discovered this album in my freshman year of college and have used it ever since. I deal with significant ADD and have found this to put me into an undistracted and focused state. I usually listen while I study and about 30min prior to an exam with fantastic results.

This cd had the exact opposite of the intended response. I almost immediately wanted to fall asleep. Also the chirping crickets were very distracting. I love the meditation cd, though.
  • HORRIBLE!! Triggers headaches and migraines

Really unpleasant. Immediately made me tense, gave me a headache, put a frown on my face. So unlike her other products. I recommend you buy her Pure Focus product instead. Update: About five minutes later, it is triggering a migraine feeling.

I was skeptical and I am shocked that it works. I feel bad for the headache people, but for those of you who do not get migraines, it is worth it. I really wish someone had told me about this in college! On a side note, I have been trying some of Kelly's other albums and discovered that the Alpha Waves really helped me with pain management (menstrual cramps), one day I went to switch gears to get some work done and switched from Alpha Waves to High Focus...suddenly my pain flared like crazy! I immediately switched back to the Alpha Waves and the pain vanished as quickly as it flared. Crazy stuff, but I'm hooked!

I enjoyed this while studying, it made me concentrate on the text, rather than my mind wandering. I wish it was longer!! It did however, make the time fly!
  • Shocked that it actually works

This got me through massive amounts of studying for doctoral exams. I have no idea how it works, but it does indeed! I had to study for about 7 hours a day for 2 months and playing this recording gave me much more brain stamina. Normally after 4 or 5 hours of studying, I feel like I've been run over by a truck....the same amount of study time while playing this recording and I feel fine. It's truly amazing and I'm very grateful!
