I realize there's an influx of indie folk bands out there, and some of them are pretty good. Great actually. However, The Lumineers stand alone, lyrically and musically both in the melodies and vocals. They tell stories, beautiful stories. I'm late to the party, but I can't stop listening to this record. They're one of the few current acts I would pay to see. As a diehard Decemberists fan I'd given up on finding anyone else who could play instruments and make real art. So much of music is fluff. Even what passes as folk usually isn't. This though? Whatever you want to call it, this is gold. Buy this record, you will not regret it.
