  • Why cry for her?

Most americans are confused with the song “Don’t cry for Me Argentina." She’s the first lady at 26. What’s she crying over? Because I’m English, like the composer, perhaps I can held. In that scene, she walks onto the balcony to greet the crowd that is crying for her to come out. So it doesn’t mean that she’s shedding tears. She is saying, “You don’t need to cry out for me” because I’ve never left you. Doesn’t that make sense/

I wasn't crazy about the movie - but I saw it again after 20 years and I liked it better the second time around. The music is wonderful. One thing I noticed is Madonna voice got getter years after this movie was made.
  • Though Good, Buy the Other One!

While this is a good album, I highly recommend buying the other available Evita collection - 'Evita - The Complete Motion Picture Soundtrack' - for the very same price. Not only does it have all of these same songs, it actually contains a total of 31 pieces, 12 more than this version. In addition to Madonna and Antonio, it includes all of the other featured players that had singing roles. A much better deal for the same price - howeever either version is just plain beauty - beautiful, graceful songs, sung with a pssion that is so rare these days. (Hey Lady GaGa - I've heard Madonna sing - you, my dear, are no Madonna!)

I love this musical, the songs, and the story. I would recomened the soundtrack to anyone. I just have one problem and that is, iTunes lables all the songs as being by Madonna, sure she was great but I think Antonio Banderes should receive credit for his songs!
  • Great Songs, but such a SAD movie!

I knew that Eva Peron died, but I didn't know it was at such a young age of a horrible disease. Madonna was great in the movie, this is pretty much the only movie that she has acted in that is worth seeing mainly because all the rest of her films have all been labeled as flops. The songs are very touching and many of them make your heart sink. Especially the songs "You Must Love Me", "Another Suitcase in Another Hall", "Waltz for Eva and Che", "Eva's Final Broadcast", and "Lament". They are very sad. The movie itself was very sad. The woman led a remarkable life. Madonna really was great in the role. Can anyone imagine that several other actresses were against her playing the part including Meryl Streep(who was actually up for the role, but the producers later felt she was way too old), Madonna does a great job and she sings her heart out. Antonio Banderas is great in the film as well. Its a shame that Madonna wasn't even nominated for an oscar, if she was she would have won! So this is a classic film by Madonna, its probably her only good movie, ever since a series of flops. She has also quit acting, and she acts so well that she blended in all the talent that she has, and all the talent that she'll ever have. She was also pregnant when she did the film.
  • Great soundtrack!

This is a great soundtrack. I actually prefer this to the London Cast's recording. Antonio Banderas is probably my favorite voice in the music. However I wish they would put Andrew Loyd Webber as the artist, not Madonna because she didn't write the songs and she's not even the only singer.
