when you do a cover you should put your own spin on it, there is a band called the almost that covered free fallin which is an iconic song and they did it justice and put their own spin on it at the same time

Tom Petty isn’t someone who is easy to cover, especially with an iconic song. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers SEEM simple, but there are so many layers to their music and their performance.
This wasn’t a good choice.

If you are going to take on an iconic song, and ask people to pay you for it, you are going to have to bring something to it equal to the one that made it famous or put a new twist on it that gives it depth. You may have it in you, but this isn't it.
