I always prefer a "live" approach to music videos rather than some director's take on a song with stupid costumes, dancers, stage props, phoney looking sets and having the musicians act. I enjoy videos when bands focus on what they are good at, which is PLAYING the MUSIC! This pretty close to playing live which is cool. Lots of camera angles of the individual members playing, singing and rocking out. I like the video, but there is way too much Mike Portney and not enough John Patrucci and Jordan Rudess.
  • Great song and video!!!!! But...

they cut out 1:50 of the song, which was mostly about half of the epic solos, which are the best parts of the song!!!!!!!! I hate it in videos when they always leave in all the vocals and cut the solos!!! Anyway the song is awesome and the video is epic (but i don't really get the obsession with the ants on SC?) Now, they need to release the cartoon video they play live for the dark eternal night!!!!! (and Labrie should keep the goatee, it makes him better.)
  • I give it more stars for the song than the video

The video is OK. It took me a second to realize that the camera was moving so much because it was in "Constant Motion..." I was looking for more substance during that time. You get to see the guys playing, etc. but I was more impressed by the ones with them in the studio. The computer animation was OK, but unless your computer animation is really top notch, it shouldn't really be in a music video (ask Iron Maiden from their new album). This CG is done a little better, but it takes away from the song and if you're wondering why the ants are climbing traffic lights and swinging on metal balls from their last album, I'm kind of wondering that also. Systematic Chaos was their best album in years and while this video isn't the best (maybe because it's lower budget), it's still a good enough video to buy and a great song to listen to. You can also say it's a great place to start if you haven't heard DT before. Now.... can we get a video for In The Presence Of Enemies Part 1? That I'd love to see. :)
  • Forsaken would've been better

The animation, which combines imagery of DT's last two CDs is very cool and fits the song well. I appreciate that the focus of the video is on DT playing, as they are the apex of musicianship in prog rock/metal. My only concern is that the video cuts out over a minute of the song (most notably the Myung bass solo). If you don't have the CD you wouldn't notice that anything's missing, as the splicing of what remains is seamless and actually works well as a more compact song. Overall, the video is worthy of DT's lofty standards.
  • More Myung...

This video is similar to Take the Time, in terms of camera angles and cuts between them playing/concept video, but I still love it and hope to see more
  • Excellent

Both the song and video are pretty awesome. As it turns out, DT has loads of music videos that got played 15 years ago. Pull Me Under, most notably, but there are a few others out there. Anyway, this is a pretty cool video for a pretty cool song. P.S. James LaBrie needs a shave.

As far as I know this is the first DT music video (not counting live vids). They do pretty well, but no music video can live up to DT's live performance. I just saw them a couple days ago. Mindblowing.
