Sing to Me Instead

My daughter played this song for me (even though it’s technically for a father/son) and sang it while we were driving the winding road to the Pacific Ocean in Northern California. She’s 19, I’m 54. It’s what every Mom (or parent) aspires to have their child feel, and you realize that you really did do a good job. I was BAWLING - and trying not to run off the road! Even the title…it’s like you don’t even want to think about or admit the inevitable. “In case…” It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming, knowing your child loves you that much. Sad that they will miss you some day, but so beautiful that you mean so much to them… This song will forever be one of my most cherished memories. Thank you.

i love this album so much, ben platt deserves so much more recognition!! he has a beautiful voice, and can tell stories so well. my favorite songs are Honest Man, Better, and Run Away

I’ve seen Pitch Perfect and The Politician and really enjoyed Ben Platt as a singer and actor but once I started following him on Instagram because a friend posted one of his videos, I fell in love. I had to watch every video, I had to download his album and waited (im)patiently for his special on Netflix. WOW! Just wow! His voice is breathtaking and he seems so down to earth. What a powerful album. What a beautiful voice. He has such talent, it takes my breath away. I strongly suggest supporting his work, it really is magical.

What an amazing voice and the songs are powerful and brilliant !!

It’s honestly an album about the ups and downs of a relationship and life in general. He starts out wanting someone and trying to get them to trust him the way he does with them. But you can slowly feel the change in their relationship with Hurt Me Once as it turns into heartbreak. He moves on and starts to become a solo person again. Share Your Address is the beginning of a relationship where you are so excited and just want to dive in once you connect. The rest of the album is just trying to assure the person that he won’t leave because he knows how painful that can be. The album as a whole is so beautiful and real that I could just listen to it for hours. Ben Platt truly has the voice of an angel and I will forever respect how he expresses challenges and things we all go through. I’ve never felt such a connection to an album and I can’t wait for his next one.

Probably the best album I’ve listened to. Ben Platt is a true singing talent and artist, none of that fake auto-tune crap from other fake singers these days.
