They are changing in a good way. The people that rated it one star did not realize that every band changes sound one time or another

Most reviews of this album on here are by die hard fans of OAR. Nothing wrong with that but it helps one to understand the bevy of absurd 1 star ratings given to this superb album. I get it. Most people hate change especially when it comes to their favorite artists and bands. But that gets you stuck in a rut. This review is coming from a person that enjoyed OAR but I never became one of their dyed in the wool followers. Really liked that stuff I had heard but have not listened to them for awhile. So I think I can be a lot more objective than most on here that have reviewed this album. I saw that OAR had just released this album so I previewed a few songs and then downloaded the album. Now I can't stop listening to it. It's a 10. And I don't attach that number to albums easily. It's not just great music but most of the songs have depth of feelings. If you aren't moved by songs like "I Miss You All the Time" and "All Because of You", well then you just don't have a soul. Even a song like "California", about a father encouraging his son to go make a place for himself out in the world is moving. Not to mention that it just might be the best tune on the album. And isn't that what great music is supposed to do ? Bring out all emotions and feelings whether it's introspection, happiness, fun, anger, frustration, love, etc. This album succeeds on all fronts. It's a work of art when great music can be married to these emotional underpinnings and it's not easy to do. So to all you fanatic fans of OAR who can't deal with the evolution of their sound and their music. Open your minds. Keep listening to this album. Listen to the music and the words and let the stories that are being told in these songs sink in. Don't just shake your head and dismiss it solely because you can't let go of the past. That's always a mistake whether it's listening to music or just life in general. While OAR may have rubbed some of their long time fans the wrong way (according to some of the reviews written here), they certainly have a made a new one out of yours truly. And I suspect I am hardly alone.

I’m not familiar with their previous albums but I stumbled upon this one. It has a very ska feel to it but I think it is great.

Went through a half dozen times. Pretty average for my taste.

This is now Of A Reflection. That’s all I do when listening to this release, and the last few really. I reflect on what used to be. The up beat, jam brandish, reggae infused, feel good band that I loved, has left the studio. I still love their live shows because there are plenty of the old songs with the energy that we all dance and sing along to. This effort though has nothing for me.

This album makes me very nervous about flying to Colorado to see them at Red Rocks. No horns, no energy, no rock. But thank you O.A.R. for being one of my favorite bands for so many years ... there's still tons of material to enjoy!
  • A must have!

Great album! Strikes a great balance of old and new. It’s a crisp, refreshing, feel good album I feel we all could use. Keep evolving O.A.R. Well done!
  • O.A.R. Is gone

Outside of Nantucket is gone, this is a poor effort. Very top 40ish with an annoying imagine dragons sound which is a bad thing. Live shows have saved my band over the years but the last 5 released albums are nothing like the band I grew to love. Quit following Marc and stick with what got you here. I’ll see you at Mystic Lake in August still...

I only listen to christian or country music, I started listening to this album on a whim. I love it every song spoke to me. Count me as a new fan. Pam
