Love, love, love this album. Jenny is at her finest. Next Messiah, Carpetbaggers, and Jack Killed Mom are great road trip songs. And Trying My Best to Love You is such a sweet song. Three thumbs up!

I bought this album back in 2009 just after it came out bc 1) I adore Jenny Lewis and 2) bc I think she's brilliant and I always buy her stuff. I tried to listen to it but couldn't get into it for whatever reason..maybe I didn't have an open mind...I dunno. A few months later I saw performing live and naturally I went and SHAME on me for not giving this album a chance. Acid Tongue is just brilliant! And in my opinion one of her best to date! Ms. Lewis please keep making music and writing about what inspires you. You're definitely one of greats in the making and I'm thankful to be able to join the ride!

I heard "The Next Messiah" at a little deli in Norman, OK (attended an OU game), tagged it and forgot about it. This week, I was tagging another song and saw the Acid Tongue cover and decided to download it. Listening to the album in my car for the first time was a great experience. This is the best album I've downloaded in a very long time! Every song is unique and when I heard Elvis Costello's voice on the vibrant and funky "Carpetbaggers", man what a terrific surprise! Give this album a chance if you don't like the first track you hear - trust me, there is something for everyone to like. You'll take the long way to work to savor this album.

Ladies take notice. When you are genuinely talented and truly inspired like Ms. Lewis, you don't have to rely on your good looks and savy publicist to keep your career afloat. Being a spit-fire, red-head that's delicate as a piece of cake is just an added bonus. My stand out tracks if I had to pick would be "Jack Killed Mom" and "Trying My Best To Love You." I must say there isn't a song I continuously skip the way I do with some lps. I say dive right in and buy the whole thing. Trust me, even if you don't like all the songs, you've spent your money on worse.

Jenny lewis is queen. Ibhave been following he since rilo kiley first started. She is a genius when it comes to lyrics an has the power to creat the most amazing song yet chooses what bits and parts we get to hear. The album sounds the way it does because she wanted it that way not cause she couldnt have done better or been more "radio friendly". It makes all of the loyal fans happy to know there are people out there who dislike her and his album because it makes us feel like we still have a genuine part of her and that people still don't get amazing music unleas it's spoon fed by the radio or MTV. Buy this album if you wanna support an amazing woman with a story and some insight into her mind. Tracks are killer and very raw. Definitely check it out.

not a fan here, i tried this album and i didn't like it. nice voice, i heard acid tongue and got curious but i am afraid this is anoter trendy artist with loads of advertising dollars masqureading as an indie queen. i don't see the great in it, nothing stuck with me. i listened twice all the way through and will not listen to it again, probably ever. to me that is a waste of my 10 bucks.
